So I havent modded in while, and I tried creating a new map to start again but it crashes on start up, since i havent done it in a while i dont remember if i forgot something:
1.Went to build, created a new map
2. went to the new map folder and munged it: i clicked the common and and for side i clicked common
3. i munged (black box came up said error in lua. -idk if thats it)
4. i played the game and it crashed

after i thought it might be the program so i delete all my stuff and re downloaded
did steps 1-4 and it still crashed
whats wrong?

When you go to your new map's visual munge, don't change anything the first time, just munge. (Although having just linked you to the documentation I can't remember whether or not that's actually necessary but that's what I do and it seems to work.)

It's not necessary but a good practice nonetheless.

so i tried it and it still doesnt work
edit: so i delete it and reinstalled, now it loads but the world comes up as ART%(random symbols)
then it crashes saying "could not open mission"

These random symbols are the same as written inside your addme.lua. You would need Patch 1.1. to display the proper names.
Make sure inside your Map's Addon folder there are all necessery files (e.g. mission.lvl, core.lvl...addme.script, ART.lvl...). If mission-lvl is corrupted or missing then your game will most likely crash while loading.

I cant find patch 1.1, i found patch 1.3 can you link patch 1.1?

it says bf2 not found, reinstall from cd

- i have the steam version btw

edit: i checked inside the folder in the addon and theres nothing inside?
what can be the cause?

If you have the Steam version, that means you automatically already have the 1.1 patch.

Not sure what else the problem could be.

you said that you got munge errors. Do you have the fixed munge.bat files??

EDIT NEW PROBLEM:
so i fixed the old problem and the map munges well, yet when i try to munge custom sides it munges quick with out mungeing at all, I dont know what the problem is? help me ?

I recently started modding (Steam version) and had the same problem. I downloaded some Munge fix program and that solved it -> http://www.gametoast.com/viewtopic.php? ... 73#p295373.
If you have the %% map name thing then that's a sure fire way of figuring out this is the problem

I tried but it did not work, can u give me the path you put it in? and do i leave the files in the folder or take out all the files? Can you tell me what file you put the files in specifically the thread you linked me too was not specific, thanks for the help.
