Keep what you have already done and create another "_LVL_PC" folder in:
BF2_ModTools\data
Then copy the same "CORE.LVL" file to the new "_LVL_PC" folder.
Then go back to data_XX1/_LVL_PC and run the "ParticleEditor.exe" and then it should definitly work.

Now it still says it cannot read the common.lvl, and it doesn't say anything about the core.lvl, but PE still crashes, saying if I want to report it to Microsoft...

yeah - like they'll fix it for us!
and just to make sure: you DID browse both pages and tried all the stuffs we did, right?

Yeah try everything, i think some ways work for some and not others.
Still, keep what you've done already and create another "Munged" folder in:
BF2_ModTools\data\_LVL_PC
Then go back to:
data_XX1\_LVL_PC
and run the "ParticleEditor.exe" and see if it still crashes
or try to run it from:
BF2_ModTools\ToolsFL\bin.
I can run mine from either inside data_ABC/_LVL_PC or BF2_ModTools\ToolsFL\bin

Dude - would you stop that..?
and I meant drivers as if whether yo uhave updated the drivers for your graphic-card lately. That COULD cause the problem if I'm not mistaken.
tried reinstalling the ModTools?

Yes I've reinstalled the modtools numerous times, and what do you mean by "stop that", I was curious if anyone else has had this identical problem

, I'll see if I need to update my video driver though, I thought it was pretty recent....

you questioned my ability to help you out since you "woul like to hear something from someone who CAN help"
for not to mention you DID doublepost on the same day and the 2nd post was just a 'ressurection' (or at least some try on ressurecting it so people gets aware of it)

Qdin... I appreciate your help, but I was curious if anyone else knew anything, you seem to be helpfull all the time, I appreciate that

I don't want to sound rude...or mean.. or whatever.......sorry
