Returning to Desktop every time I play [Solved]

I installed the game again after two years, went to instant action, selected Kashyyk.
One second after I click "Launch" I always get returned to my desktop, and BFII running is terminated.
Tried online, Galactic Conquest, and Campaign every time I crash when the game is about to start.
I installed Conversion Pack 2.0 hoping that the 1.3 patch might help, but same thing happens.
Suggestions?
And I have re-installed twice.

Try lowering your video settings. If that doesn't help, you could also try reinstalling the game.

WAIT (sorry for caps)!! Don't reinstall or anything. I used to have this exact same error, and so did tons of other people (
I'm guessing you use Vista?
If you do, this should fix the problem:
Go to start, control panel, and open sound.
Go over to the recording tab. Right click, and hit "show disabled devices". One called "sterio mix" is disabled. Right click, and hit "enable". That should get your game running.
NOTE - When the level finishes loading, the spawn menu may not be availabe. To fix that, hold alt and press tab, then go open sound again. In the playback tab, right click on speakers and press disable, then go back into BF2. You might have to switch this every time you advance onto a different map.
Hope this helps!
PS - If you don't use Vista, then check to make sure your computer can run BF2. Other than that, I have no suggestions.

I have XP, and my computer can run it because I was in this very community two years ago when I used to Mod.

1-Uninstall
2-Go to the folder where you originally had it installed, make sure it's 100% empty
3-Reinstall
4-Install Convo Pack 2.0
5-Install Convo Pack 2.2 patch
6-Test
If that all works start adding your favorite maps/mods one by one and testing.

I'll try that, but you realize my game was crashing without Convo pack, Eh?

The Convo Pack 2.2 patch comes with the 1.3 patch, which could solve some problems as well. Also, the patch removes a lot of missions from 2.0, which could also clear out any possible errors with that.

Yeah, The 1.3 patch didnt work.
EDIT
UPDATE:
Have installed Convo pack and 2.2 patch.
Still crashes to desktop everytime I press launch.
Nothing seems to work....
Any More Suggestions, Please?
I'm so desperate to play.

Two things:
1-What version of the game do you have? (CD/DVD/Steam...)
2-When exactly does it crash? Do you see a title screen? Is there an error message?

1. PC-DVD
2. As soon as I press "Launch" or "Begin" or even when joininh an onlinr game. No error message, nothing but returning to desktop and I can see BFII is no longer running.

I had problems like this, but ever y time I would load a custom map. After the loading screen it would revert back to Desktop. Some times I would get to spawn, but every time I spawn then turn right (every one of the four times I tried, I immediately turned right) it would crash, and revert to Desktop.... I don't know if this is a similer problem.
