I may end up eating my earlier words, with which I would be more than happy - but there are so many ways LA could go right reintroducing an "old school" franchise. In the mid-nineties, everything LA touched (especially SW-franchise games) was golden.

I'll have to agree with you there. X-wing Alliance, Jedi Knight, etc., were all great games, and modern games just don't seem to compare to them.

Back on-topic: I wonder what game LA is going to announce. I'm personally hoping for another flight-sim, or maybe a remake of Dark Forces, but my gut is telling me that I'm most likely wrong.

Very exciting, to say the least. My hope lies with Battlefront III, but I'm not going to hope too much yet, just gotta wait and see I guess (at least we don't have to wait too long ).

I would absolutely love to see a new space-flight-sim; TIE Fighter (and the X-Wing series by extension) remain a real favorite of mine. Space-sims haven't been "in vogue," unfortunately, and I don't know if LA is willing to do something so risky in this economic climate.

well lets hope its a confirming of battlefront 3 as it went dead a few months back and its says about a exsisting franchise so the chances are high. but you never know republic commando2? well lets hope its a good game and not a bad game

also why wasnt this game shown at E3 2009?

It may not have been ready or LA mayhave feared the other major titles would overshadow this release.

I actually think it may be a "KoTOR 3", however impartial I may be to the franchise. A star wars battlefront 3 or a totally new game would be most likely however.

I highly doubt the game's going to be KOTOR 3, BF3, or RC2, seeing as the article said stuff about old-school games.

Did you guys read the article?
The game, they say, will be "awesome news for old school fans."
KotOR and Battlefront, while solid franchises, are hardly "old-school."

LA already announced a Monkey Island update at E3, I believe.

Bernard is from "Day of the Tentacle" (Maniac Mansion):

They announced some Monkey Island stuff, and that's pretty widely publicized. I can't imaging they'd call that 'new'.

It'll be interesting to see what it turns out to be.

That's retarded. They're just offering lots of old games via Steam, which I hate anyways. Thanks for nothing, Lucasarts.

I remember Mav was saying something about SWBFII not being old-school. Guess LA thinks differently...

I'm rather upset with this, since I was expecting a new GAME, not old games re-released.

Lamesauce. I thought this would be something that's actually new. Oh well.

Well, as long as they put the Dark Forces series on Steam, I might have a reason to get it!

I agree with what Tean said. None of these games are really very exciting anymore, except BFII and RC. And BFII is only exciting because of mods. Oh, I hope that Pandemic doesn't see this and decide to be generous and release a patch to make the mod tools "Steam Version Compatible" or else we'll get a HUGE flood of people wanting to mod....
EDIT: Another fail, they release BFII but not BF1? I really could care less if I could make mods for BF1, but I still like the game. And then if they're re-releasing old-school games, why release LEGO Indiana Jones but not games like KotOR, TIE Fighter, Rogue Squadron, etc.. LEGO Indiana Jones is barely a year old! :runaway:
