I was simply reskining the republic, I munged the side and its not showing up. Could it have to do with me having the convo pack?

nope, absolutely nothing to do with convo pack.
this has been asked so many times in the past year i can see why the real elders are getting annoyed lol. even if we all start as noobs lol. anyways, heres some tuts to help you..

in gimp when you save something as a .tga (the only accepted format in the skinning world) it prompts you with 2 checkboxes, the first is one with RLE compression, gotta uncheck that or else you end up with a munge error.
