Announcing: All Era Mega Mod

Hi,

For the past several days I have been working on a mod for both eras that changes the sides. I am not making a map. I am trying to do two big things with this mod:

First, I am going to lower the health of all units and raise the damage of most weapons for a one-hit-kill style combat.

Second I am going to make many items in the game more unique to each side. Example, each side will have its own orbital strike. Each type of orbital strike will have its strengths and weaknesses.

This is a lot to accomplish, but I am getting along fine. My biggest obstacle is balance. I have to balance everything just right so no side is better then the other.

One thing other thing I want to do is add some new skins to units. I am not very skilled at all in the ways of skinning. So if you have some skins that I can use in this mod, please tell me. It would make my mod so much better if I had custom skins.

Check here often for new announcements concerning this upcoming mod.

I am not quite sure when I will release the beta yet so I am not putting any dates up.

I don't know if i have done a very good job explaining my mod, so if you have questions post them and i will do my best to answere

Update 9/15/05: I have added a poll to this topic to see what style of combat people like.

Update 9/15/05: I have decided to release two versions of the game, one for regular combat (several hits to kill) and one for one-hit-kill type combat

What kind of skins do u need? I'll try to make them but I need guidelines. Thanks.

You are my hero, I haven't seen many people come here, since I joined. That use good grammar learn the tools so fast (unless you knew them before you joined) make a lvl. replacement mod with significant changes(with the exeception of OOM-9s gcw replacement mod) and politely ask for help. I admire you, salute you, and wish I knew the tools well enough to help you.

i h8 maps with one hit kills, unless it is a fair 1 hit kill, like rocket launcher. one shot killing you? that defeats the point of skill in a game

Thank you for your kind words, I didn't start modding until shortly after I joined Game Toast.
I don't really use any tools to do this though. I just edit the .odf files with notepad. All you need is the BFBuilder for the files and BFBuilder Pro to easily import the sides.

I had a feeling some people would not like the one-hit-kill idea. I am thinking about releasing a non-one-hit-kill version of this mod shortly after I finish the first version. The one hit kill type I am talking about is like one hit from a rifle kills.

Sniper rifles should definately be one-hit kill weapons. But I think every other gun should just be left alone.

Other than that, this mod sounds really cool. I wish you luck, and hope you release it soon.

If it's ok with Majin Revan, you could some of his unit skins like Commander Gree and the Clone Commando and some of the vehicle skins. [goofyidea]or you could do the cool thing and make all the republic units different colored arc troopers for the republic[/goofyidea] also, make sure that the republic side holds their pisols like regular rifles, just like in my sig. :D

I am thinking of using some of Majin Revan's skins. As for holding pistols like rifles, I am not sure I have the skills to do that, I will look into it though. Thanks for the suggestions.

If you want the republic to hold their rifles like pistole, open the pistols odf and change the animation from pistol to rifle, thats what I did. I would go into more detail but I am in a hurry.

What do you need? I've got a bunch of different skins I've made, which will be released into upcoming skin packs. I made some camoes for the Stormies and Clones, as well as for the Rebel Vangurad, to name a few.
