Assuming you've played both, which one do you like better? I like skate because since i skateboard, i like the realism besides i feel the tony hawk series was recycled too much. (I don't want to start a flame war over this so please state your reason why you like on game over another)

i bought both games and took skate back an hour later and traded it for some crazy piniata game. Skate looked cool but the "realism" in this case was no matter what i did the guy fell over and over and "open ended skating" wasnt really possible. I thought me and a gal could play co op and skate all over the place, the game wasnt even close to offering that, was a pile of mini missions and free skate is limited to 1 kid on board that dies and has to watch the death animation 50 times ever minute..snore ya later skate. Tony games are ok , shallow and button mashy. id say dont get either and find a game with something that will offer your brain , usage.

I can't say I've ever played Skate, but I really like Tony Hawk games.
I really like the freedom they give you, and the customization and stuff.
And button mashing is only what you do if you're new to the game.
That's the same with any game.

Tony Hawk, hands down. Any of them but Tony Hawk's American Waste-of-money. That one was awful.

Tony.
He had Spider-man, Wolverine, Darth Maul, and Jango in his games. Now that's how you make an awesome roster.

Let freedom rule?
SKATE has a big environment, bigger than Tony hawks I think. Put it this way:
If you like Unrealistic skating, poor ragdolls etc, get Tony Hawks ( Preferably Project 8 )
If you want the best Realistic skating I have seen in a game, get skate.
I couldnt stand playing Tony Hawks after I played skate.

Skate is a really fun game to just pick up and play. I find it easy, and don't fall every ten seconds. I think it takes time to play to get used completly to the controls.
[Edit] Also, realism may not matter to you if you don't skateboard, but if you do, it means alot. Tony Hawk is like if in halo, you could be shot in the head with a sniper rifle 10 times before dieing.

Or you can do what I do and skate in real life, then play SKATE and you will notice huge differences between Tony and SKATE.

Been skating for awhile now
and its really funny after youve been out skating, come back inside and play Tony hawks to find out you can ollie about 11 ft off the ground.
