Empty _LVL_PC folder [Solved]
I just started modding SWBF2 today and i'm having a problem. So I know this is a really dumb problem but, I munged my mod, added some props and stuff, and went to just see what it looked like in game and it crashed saying there was no mission.lvl. So I went to my Addon folder in looked in my mods _LVL_PC folder, and there is nothing in there. So I know I must of done something wrong and kinda need some help. And YES, I have looked at the FAQ. Thanks in advance.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
There is many things that can produce the mission.lvl error popup.
Would help us,if u posted details;
1)was the munge really fast? like 10 seconds
2) look thru addon files, was all files there ? mission,addme,map.lvl,core.lvl etc
3) can u get error log ? run your mod with the debugger to get a error log text file, look for sev. 3 errors.
4) are u on game version 1.1?

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
The addme.script is there but nothing else besides data and the _LVL_PC folder is in my three letter folder. I have the game on steam and have the 1.3 patch installed. And what error log are you talking about, where is it? Both of the munges didn't take that long. Like I said, the _LVL_PC folder is completely empty.

Do a manual clean and try munging again.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
If a munge is really short like a few seconds, you need the munge fix for Windows vista/7. It's in the all you need faq. There is no point to even trying to play your mod until this is used, if needed.
You can download the debugger executable (this is a dev tool version of the game) from the faq, place it in game data folder and run it. Play your map until crashing point. Then your error log is generated. In the error log look for severity 3 issues and post them here if you have them.
Or you can try this.
Do a clean of your mod.
Do another munge.
Then copy all the created files manually from data_mod\_lvl_pc
to addon.
So your addon would look like this:
mod\addme.lua
mod\data\_lvl_pc\mod\mod.lvl
mod\data\_lvl_pc\mission.lvl
mod\data\_lvl_pc\core.lvl

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
Okay so I have windows 8.1 so I am not sure the munge fix will work. For the manual clean, I can't find half the folders they are talking about. And i'm not seeing _LVL_PC in data_YSD (My mod) and where is the debugger in the FAQ???
EDIT
I could also make a video showing you what i'm missing and stuff if that would help. Should I?

The FAQ / Everything You Need Thread Version 2.0 wrote:Question #4 - I have the CD version of SWBF2 and I get a binkw32.dll error when trying to launch the BF2_modtools.exe, what's wrong?
Answer - The BF2_modtools.exe is the debug executable, copy it from C:\BF2_ModTools and paste it in the same folder as your BattlefrontII.exe, usually:
C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData
you can launch BF2_modtools.exe and play your map then exit or let it crash to generate a BFront2.log located in that same folder.
If you encounter a "Please insert CD 1" dialog or have the DVD or digital download version of SWBF2 use THIS modified BF2_modtools.exe

I've got no clue how to use Windows 8. I can't do much else, hopefully there are others who can.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
I have the Steam version of SWBF2. And if this helps when I try to munge the mod again in data_YSD, _BUILD, it takes like a second to complete and at the bottom of all the text it says: /Intel/iCLS was unexpected at this time.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
Yep, you need munge fix.
btw: if you have a second computer with a different system, I'd use that just because things might be simpler. This game and it's tools was made when all we had was XP. There's going to be issues with Vista,7,8.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
Okay, but how do I install munge fix? I do have windows 7 I could try using later as well but it would be nice to get things working on my 8.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
Usually, download the munge fix from the faq, extract, and place folder "vistamungefix" inside mod tools main folder. Inside vistamungefix, run the batch file named vistamungefix. It takes about a half second. Done. If you've already built a mod, you could re-make the same mod (same name, id, desc.) and copy over the world files, script files, and other things from the old project folder.

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
EDIT
One more question actually. When I add some props and stuff to my map how do I save it so I can see them ingame?
EDIT2
What I mean is that I added some stuff to my map and saved it to the ABC.wld file in data_ABC, worlds, ABC, world1 but when I go ingame nothing is changed. Also do I need to make the SIDE folder manually in addon, ABC, data, _LVL_PC?

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
If you've done all these steps and used ZeroEditor to place the objects in your world (preferably in the Base layer) then munge, you should have everything. If you're not sure how to place the props in ZeroEditor, have a look at ZeroEditor_guide.doc as well (you should probably read through most of the documentation anyway if you're new to modding). I hope this helps. Happy modding!Getting Started.doc wrote:Adding New Objects
In order to use objects from the shipped worlds (I’ll use Kashyyyk as our example here), you’ll need to copy those assets from the \BF2_ModTools\assets\worlds\KAS\msh and \BF2_ModTools\assets\worlds\KAS\odf folders. You can copy one object at a time, or you can just copy these entire folders into your new world folder. Just keep in mind that the more files are in there, the bigger your level download will be, and the more memory will be required to run your level, so it’s best not to have too many files in these folders that aren’t being used. These files need to go in a corresponding folder inside your new mod folder. For example, if you want to copy some objects from the Kashyyyk world into your new world, you could either just copy the entire msh and odf folders into \data_abc\worlds\abc\, or you can create the odf and msh folders manually, and just copy single assets over. It’s important to note, that when you copy over a mesh, you need to copy over all the textures, option files (.option) and the odfs, otherwise the objects that you copy over won’t work properly. (For more info on placing, and manipulating objects, see ZeroEditor_guide.doc in the documents folder).

Re: Empty _LVL_PC folder
You run the visual munge inside "data" folder 1 time to create a project folder.
You run the visual munge inside data_mod any time you've made changes to your level / custom side.
Some changes like reskinning require a clean and munge before they go into action.

No worries. People here are happy to help. Just make sure you check the documentation and/or FAQ thread before posting if you have an issue, there's an incredible amount of information in those spots.
