Super Mario Galaxy 2

Post by Fusion »

So who else is picking this up on Sunday? I've been following the "uoıssıɯsuɐɹʇ" ad campaign for the last month, and this game is looking like it's visually the best game on the Wii, and with it having the engine from the last one I'm sure the gameplay will be great too.

Additions to gameplay from the last game include Yoshi and his powers (Balloon, Lantern), Rock Mario (think Golem from Pokemon), Cloud Mario (very much like Item 1 from Megaman 2), and probably a lot more I'm forgetting.
Hidden/Spoiler:
This is actually what made this game a definite buy for me. Mario 64 was epic.
Anyways, I hope this game lives up to it's potential.

Gaaa, I spent all my money on MH3:T... hopefully, sometime in June, I'll be able to get this game. I loved the first one, and I hope the game will up the challenge. Needs more Toy Time Galaxy Purple Coin run-likes. :P

Oh, it's coming out that soon? I thought it was coming out in late June/early July. Darn. Well, I've only got like $30 now, which won't be enough, so I'll probably end up buying it with birthday money in July.

But yeah, a friend showed me that video. Let's just hope it won't be like the DS remake. D:

I'm probably going to wind up buying this game one way or another, I like a good 3-D platformer.

Eh, played the first one, and while it was fun, it wasn't too spectacular, and didn't impress me that much. I don't think I'll get this one.

Sunday. The Wii was built for Super Mario Galaxy. So it's a definite buy.

Gametrailers - 9.7
IGN - 10

Yeah, a sequel done right. I would so love to get it when it comes out but I must be realistic and buy it later. Most likely during the holiday season. :( Still looks amazing and so much fun.

This is a video game, right? With Bowser as the villain, aka Mr. "Bad Because the Writers Say So"? Why does this sound like a combination of the new Star Trek movie and a Ganondorf fight?

Well, it's pretty dang awesome, so who cares what or who it was made for. :P

So it's out. I really think this could be the best game for the Wii, maybe even the best Mario game.

I'm already at World 4, and I think it has a balanced level of difficulty. Most of the mistakes made are stupid ones you can avoid (Galaxy made of switch tiles that change when you spin, you'll know why when you get there :P) and the bosses have interesting patterns, although some of the patterns seem to be stolen from the last game

(Sorbetti is Final Bowser's rock form with a clown nose and snow).
But yeah, definitely pick this one up if you have a Wii.

I got it for myself and a friend, and while I can't play it yet (parents), another one of my friends who got it says it's absolutely tremendous. I've listened to the soundtrack and I agree.

Just got to the Throwback Galaxy.
Hidden/Spoiler:
HOLY MASTER OF DR. PEPPER that was made of win. While it's not a pixel-for-pixel remake of Whomp's Fortress, it still has the same effect it did on me 10 years ago. When I got to the top and killed the Whomp King I was all "Excuse me why is he dead in one hit," then the Bowser Panel opened and I fell through the shaft down to the real Whomp King Battle. Now that was epic. He has the same lines he did in 64 ("but I won't gravel...err, grovel") and he has new moves that will paralyze you on the field for a moment, he now has a red glow where he's going to land, and he sends out his Thwimp minions. It was very satisfying to go back, and I'm so glad they decided to put this level in. Now I want a Mario 64 remake on the Wii. :P
Surprisingly, it looks like only 60 stars won't cut it for the game. It took me 60 to get into Throwback alone, 65 to get past it. I'm guessing the final level will either be 75 or 80, like is was in 64 DS

Haha, I actually just started SM'64 on the computer (emulator), and I sort of lol'd when I found out about Whomps Fortress.

I bought this the other day, and I have to say it's as enjoyable as I expected.
I got to the 6th world a few minutes ago, I've been enjoying playing with my sister.
However, the maps end up getting a little boring with only a few gimmicks.
My rating: 9/10

Bought it a couple days ago. Very well done. Just as good, if not better, than the first.

It definitely gets the Hebes Seal of Approval

I haven't played it yet, but I probably will. Critics seem to be ga-ga over it, and the general consensus is that it's a notable improvement over the first. It's arguable whether "more of the same" is a bad thing, in any case:

Doesn't have to be a bad thing, but I wasn't overly fond of Mario Galaxy. I liked it, but I don't think I liked it enough to buy a very simular game. Rankings other people gave it isn't going to change that.

EdiT: I bought it, and I admit it's awesome. I really like it a lot better than the previous one. Guess the 2 threw me off there, usually direct sequels aren't that good
