Well the general feeling is BF2 will not be moddable so if I at least learn to map for this game, then I it will be worth it.

Ok, sorry for the "quick delay". Had an issue with my guitar amp and had to fix it (darned electronics!)! But, I'm back on course now!

CarbineImpulse: You're absolutely right! But, i am going to start off with a general tutorial which walks in from the beginning and acts like I am working with a bunch of teens from a high school computer science class. I'm not necessarily dumbing it down. Just making it a little easier for people who haven't modded before. I will be working ont hat list you suggest shortly. Writing it out now. Should be back on in an hour or so to post it.

Please, everyone who wishes to help, please put a thinking cap on! You'll all know more about what to write on shortly!

Ok, here is what I had figured out and what I have written (Green = written, red = not written, blue = working on):

Welcome Preface
Tutorial
-- The Beginning
-- A First Look
-- ZeroEdit (The Editor)
-- Beginning to Build

-- Command Posts (Currently working here)
-- ????
-- ????
ZeroEdit
-- Edit Modes
-- A Brief Explanation
-- Height
-- Color
-- Texture
-- Water
-- Foliage
-- Object
-- Path
-- Regions
-- HintNode
-- Barrier
-- Planning
-- Boundary
-- Keyboard Shortcuts
-- ????

Advanced Modding
-- Sides
-- Adding Sides (Simplified and psych0fred's)

-- ????
-- ????

Appendix
-- Shortcuts (Keyboard, Mouse, SPTest, etc.)
-- Appendix A (Additional Info like Adding water(written), custom sides(written), etc.)

I have figured out that the best way to teach noobs is to walk through it step-by-step. That is section 1, Tutorial. I am writing that from scratch and it is best if I keep on with that. (Folks can look over it when I'm done and let me know what they think. Errors, omissions, etc. can be brought to my attention then.)

I need to know what other people think need to be added? And how to break it down more would be good. The stuff that psych0fred and GT have is great, but doesn't seem to be reaching people. That's why I am making this different in it's approach. So, post some comments and suggestions and let me know what you think should be added and how to go about it.

Thanks for everyone who is involved!

The Sky lua file is also explored here:
index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=236

I suggest to run a search through all stickies here. There are tons of helpfull stuff .

Anything and everything can and will help! Whether it be something that can add to the tutorial I write, or something by itself. It will help. Not even I know everything about this game! I still have to ask (sometimes noobish) questions about certain things! So, anything can help.

Thanks Rends! I will be including those.

Bobafett16: Anything you can provide will work. Just let me know where to pick it up.

If you look in the documentation that comes with the mod tools, everything that you have in your tutorial will be there. I don't know if you are making it into an easier to understand format or you didn't know.

Yep, easier. Not that it wasn't easy already. It's just two things:

-- The info is scattered all over god's creations, and
-- Some of the info, although good, lacks a certain panache and/or ability to speak to the common man.

My main hope is that we make it easier for people to mod, that's all. I would like to see people making maps from every corner of the Earth! Imagine if we could be inundated with a variety of good maps!

Thanks psych0fred! There are several ideas and items from you that are included in the tutorial. Full credits given.
