This is an extremely hard post for me to write. In fact, I didn't even know how to start it but this will have to do.
I've been with Gametoast for a long, long time. My account may have been started in 2008, but that was because I finally built up the courage to get involved with this wonderful community after I had been lurking for at least a year before that. Hyrule Field was the first map that caught my attention and got me interested in mods for Battlefront II, but I didn't have a powerful enough computer to run the game at the time. But Christmas in Jinglin' town was probably the first map I followed from beginning to end; I can remember browsing that thread religiously through the discussion and updates. Shortly after it was released my bigger brother got an extremely good computer for the time, and I was finally able to play and mod Battlefront II!
After that, I actually didn't accomplish much when it came to modding. I learned all of the tricks, and knew exactly how to make maps, models, textures, scripts, odf's, basically anything you could name for this game. But I could never get the motivation to culminate it into anything meaningful or finish a map. In fact, I only ever finished one map of my own: Training Installation. Even then, I wasn't very happy with the outcome.
I actually found more fun in working around the limitations of Zero Engine and finding out how to do a lot of cool stuff that you never see in other people's projects. These discoveries and tinkerings were more tailored to the visual/graphics side of things. Remember RepSharpshooters huge discussion on lighting and lightmaps for this game, and he even implemented a really simple workaround into one of his maps? Yeah, I took that and ran with it and came up with this about 3 months ago:
That was taken in Zero Editor. But, I could never finish a map that I was happy with that implemented this feature. Such is life.
I'm actually happy I volunteered to do some player models for Marth and WULF. I actually managed to get some of those finished atleast. But as they both probably concluded, I have a horrible work ethic and I have trouble meeting deadlines. I'm glad I could help you guys, but I'm sorry that I'm leaving the Mass Effect Mod's team in this manner. Thanks for the opportunity!
If you have any questions about anything, feel free to shoot them my way. I'm still gonna be around every once in a while. I'm just not going to post anymore. I'm not going to mod this game anymore. I won't be active in this community that's been such a huge part of my life for the past 7 years of my life anymore
If you want to find me in other places, I'll be hanging around other communities and scenes with these names:
Twitch.Tv in all of the speedrunning streams: "InfiniteBombJump" (Also, my name on Speed Runs Live, I run basically only Metroid Games)
Neogaf.com: "Im_So_Pringles"
Xbox Live: "Im_So_Pringlezz" (If you add me, give me your Gametoast username in the message)
YouTube: "Aaronmac404" Soon I'm going to make another channel named "Aaronmac64" Where I'm going to post videos of Videogame rock remixes that I make
Also, my name is Aaron McDevitt. Chances that I accept social media website friend requests if you manage to find me may be slim, but if you really want to I can send you links to my pages. I'm giving you my real name because I trust you all and just in case I manage to pop up in any musical efforts/songs/albums that you may listen to in the coming years.
Alright, it's time. Goodbye guys. Thanks Mav, Teancum, Guru, AQT, and everybody else that has kept this site extremely well run over the years. Thanks to everybody that has helped me before, and thank you to all of the users here at GT. You are all an extremely classy bunch. I'm gonna miss you guys. Thanks for all of the memories and fun over the years.
Who knows, if Star Wars Battlefront III is ever made, I may return.
Alright, peace out everybody.
