You place it just like any other object. It just won't appear after you select to place it. Let me explain:
-You go to "place" under objects,
-select the terrain-cutter you want,
-then, you won't see it on your cursor like usual objects, this is fine,
-click on the terrain where you want to cut,
-and blammo, there will be a pink box, cylinder, or sphere where you selected. You can now move it around, rotate it, whatever you can do with an object.
