The Crysis engine or Dice's Refractor 2 engine would better fit SWBF3. I never felt like Source code do BIG open world justice like those engines could, particularly Refractor 2.
Me neither, but it made for a good example. lolTeancum wrote:I never felt like Source code do BIG open world justice like those engines could, particularly Refractor 2.
Are you kidding? Mustafar+frostbite=epic LOLRaptor522 wrote:Me neither, but it made for a good example. lolTeancum wrote:I never felt like Source code do BIG open world justice like those engines could, particularly Refractor 2.
The Crytek engine would be fun, provided they didn't make the system requirements physically painful. lol As for DICE, I think Bad Company's Frostbite engine would be better than the Refractor, though I guess it'd depend on what all they wanted to do. I'm not sure Battlefront really needs destructible environments...
Whatta ya mean? If tools are available for the game that allow custom models, heck yeah we can recreate those maps. And with next-gen abilities, we can make em look even better.Teancum wrote:Yeah, but that could only happen if they used the Zero engine. Supposedly Pandemic ain't doing it, and they own the Zero engine.
What do you think Conquest is on? They don't call it "2.0" but they said it's still the Zero engine, and it's definitely upgraded from BattlefrontII.Raptor522 wrote:Apparently, the Zero engine is good for modding, but they haven't exactly proved it could make a really awesome game. At make a Zero 2.0 engine or something.
Yeah, but we can't convert the maps. I sure as heck ain't trying to redo it all from scratch.squipple wrote:Whatta ya mean? It was meant to be a jokeTeancum wrote:Exactly. If I have to re-make (vs just converting) every one of those maps I'll be miles from the SWBF3 mod tools, even if they exist.
Well, probably not - but if there's a conversion pack I won't be a part of it, because it was hard enough the first time around, and we only had to convert the maps, not make them from scratch.

Therefor I win. But it doesn't matter, as this entire page says, if it's made at all, it'll be on a different engine (Thank God).Raptor522 wrote:or something.
The SWBF2 Mod Tools were released on February 22, 2006 while the game was released on October 31, 2005. A gap of almost 4 months so I guess Pandemic still has plenty of time to release LotRC Mod Tools. I was just curious if Pandemic is still releasing Mod Tools because not all games have them which again points back to the question of SWBF3 maps and Zero Editor.Blade wrote:Well, the Battlefront II Mod Tools weren't released until about a year (?) after the game was released.
I wouldn't blame ya after the conversion pack-a-thon you just went through (and maybe are still going through)Teancum wrote:Exactly. If I have to re-make (vs just converting) every one of those maps I'll be miles from the SWBF3 mod tools, even if they exist.

Which would have been fine by me.Raptor522 wrote:. . .there's no way to actually know the gameplay was better. I'd be willing to place bets that the gameplay was exactly the same... just "prettier."
Agree... there's a reason guru started this website, and it's not because BF2 was an ok game.Teancum wrote:Which would have been fine by me.Raptor522 wrote:. . .there's no way to actually know the gameplay was better.
