DICE has washed their hands of this game as they announce no further content.

Can't say I blame them. I'm sure they're eager to move onto DICEfront 2.

On contrast, I believe Battlefield 4 was updated up until the end of 2015, two years after its release. Battlefront's content lifetime is only half that.

I've mixed feelings. I had a lot of fun with this game, but at the same time its flaws are huge.
The biggest disappointment for me is that dlc maps are not playable on skirmish.

Right, but see, Battlefield 4 is a genuinely really good game that has plenty of gameplay depth, as opposed to DICEfront, which is a mediocre-to-adequate game that severely lacks gameplay depth but looks and sounds amazing. :p

Precisely. It's very evident that DICE did not put the same amount of effort into Battlefront as they do Battlefield. One has to wonder: did they really
want to do Battlefront?

One last thing they could at least do is to give us some kind of a content creator which allows us all to create custom maps, game modes, weapons, sides, eras and even missions and all that stuff.

At this point I'd much rather have the source code for the first two games. They'll never give us any sort of mod support for the new games.
