I had the idea of a flying, invisible vehicle, but I thought the same thing s Caleb.
Hey, just had an idea... You could put a whole bunch of lights near it, then it would make a shadow.....

Two ways.
Use Repsharpshooters mesh importer, to get whatever in XSI, redo the hardpoints, and get it Re-exported, with transparency enabled.
Then slop an alpha channel over, all it's textures.
Or
Hex edit it, so that the mesh has transparency enabled, I think Mav did it, so it should be possible.

not sure if this was already discussed but XSI aside you could always just move the bontha's weapons properties and do some kind of switch with that and another weapon

1) That makes no sense
2) The Bothan's cloak ability doesn't work on anything other than units. Period

Wait, Tean, yu said it doesnt work on anything but units, then will it work in VH mode? Presuming Im correct in the entire idea of you being the vehicle in VH mode?

Nope. VH mode works by forcing someone into a vehicle when you spawn. So it's the same as what you'd normally do, it's just that you're put into a vehicle automatically.

Oh. Well, then I guess the only possibility is msh editing.

Which is a poor choice because AI won't be fooled by any sort of invisible mesh nor will the lock-on button. I've personally tried a number of ways to get this to work, and while I certainly don't want to discourage you from trying new and interesting things, I feel that I can say with some modicum of authority that what you're talking about here is not possible, as has been stated.
