I don't think you lose your savefiles if you reinstall. As far as I know you keep them. Besides, still on Peragus? Sucks if you gotta redo that part, but it won't take that long. Unless you feel like you MUST see all holologs again

And yeah, installed any mods? Remove em and try again if you have.

You can just back up your save files, and then put them back in the folder once you reinstall. (at least for KOTOR1 you can, and I don't think something like that would change.)

Yup, you can copy your "Saves" map (Probably located here:C:\Program Files\LucasArts\SWKotOR2) and then just reïnstall and paste.

OK. the first level is SOOOOOOO long and I've gotten soooooo far in it. I will try to backup the saves and see where that gets me.

awww... peragus is imho the most boring level in kotor 2 (next to it is the last one... forgot the name... was it onderon? where you fight kreia) so i suggest you to make a save file after you finished the level and copy it to some place where you never delete it
