those look awesome vyse I'd say they'd make perfect models for a subway map and/or a Coruscant "sky" map :P

the textures just look stretched and kinda blurry but they remind me of either the endar spire halls or the halls on the Taris upper city apartments.

you said it, I thought it. but for some reason it still looks natural enough - I'd say Vyse was lucky :P

Did you do it on purpose or...?

Doesn't matter :P

Vyse, you see on the 1st of those pics on the ground? whenever the 'tiles' are getting rotated you'll get a VERY ugly edge and seam... :? Maybe making a bent version with its own texture would make it easier to use for other's?

Its not really a specific place. ;)

I was thinking maybe the fuzzyness was coming from how the actually texture is processed by the game engine. If I rotated it in the texture editor instead of freezing it and then bending the actually mesh would it help you think?

Here is my first attempt at a Death Star surface map. Only problem is, it lags like crazy. I could decrease the view distance though, and make the lowrez really lowrez.

first of all, it depends on how you bend it :P you gotta keep a 'connection' betweek them

and 2nd of all: if you release a Death Star like this I'll personally give you a warning or two... -_-' See along the sides of the 'walls'? SO much distortion :o and you should've used bumpmaps instead for the low_res.

You'd better fix all that distortion, Vyse... *shakes fists very threatening* :P

the good is... I like the cockpit on the Xwing! :D

If your talking about the sides of all the squares, the UV got messed up when I imported the meshes into a new scene. ;)

For the bump map instead for the lowrez, are you talking about just using a flat plane maped with a bumpmap for a lowrez mesh?

If you'd make a Death star map with this, I suggest you make a skybox that fits perfectly to the model, than place LOADS of turrets near the edges(combined with the normal boundaries) and you could say you are now flying in the area that has allready been bombarded by y-wings. That way you wouldn't need to tune it down as much and you still might have the idea that you are actually near a huge battlestation.

(still somehow, I've got the feeling that I didn't need to say this... :P)

Verry nice start btw :)!

I have the feeling that he doesn't mean to put em in game, that these are for practise.

Don't worry, I'm worse at texturing.... training for it atm.

Yeah... but XSI is the best - at least for me :P - UV Texture Editor  Maya and 3ds Studio Max is really confusing - especially Maya is O.o

Seems nicely enough, Wideboy. Just keep practising :)
