Left to right:
Moguryuu (ムグリュー) - Mole Pokemon - Ground - Sand Throw or Sand Power (attacks increase in power during sandstorms) - 0.3m - 8.5kg.
Kurumiru (クルミル) - Sewing Pokemon - Bug / Grass - Swarm or Chlorophyll - 0.3m - 2.5kg. It has a new attack called "Bug Resistance" which hits two Pokemon at once.
Mamanbou (ママンボウ) - Nursing Pokemon - -Possibly- Luvdisc's evolution - Water - Healing Heart (cures teammates of status conditions) or Hydration - 1.2m - 31.6kg.
Kurumiru reminds me so much of Caterpie and Weedle I'm playing through Viridian Forest now because of it and the nostalgia it brings.
Expect the Sugimori artwork of
Miruhoggu (ミルホッグ) - Precaution Pokemon - Minezumi's evolution - Normal - Illuminate or Keen Eye - 1.1m - 27.0kg. "It lights up the pattern on its body to threaten its opponents."
by the end of the week.

Scratch that last post I made, it happens right now:
Wind Storm is a move that Swana (the swan thing) gets where the accuracy depends on the weather
Wild Pokemon change depending on the season
The Sturdy ability no longer just protects one-hit ko moves like Horn Drill, it's a built in Focus Sash (if a move hits and would take you out while you had Max HP, you survive with 1)
Victini will reappear at the lighthouse if you knock it out by accident
Hometown is Konokota Town (not that you guys will ever see it called that )
Team Plasma (the Monty Python knights) are apparently a parody of PETA, as they are trying to "liberate" the Pokemon
Using the Global Link, you can download customized backgrounds for the Pokedex and C-gear and can download new songs for the Musical
Dream World Pokemon will have different abilities, such as Vaporeon having Hydration
Berries are not in Isshu, they only appear through the Dream World Item Trading is now possible through the Global Link
High Link has some strange abilities, such as a double EXP ability. You can trade these with your friends
Miracle Shooter is an item used in battle, optional of course, that allows you to gain points to buy and use items (11 points for Revive, Ether and X Attack at 12)
The Battle Subway replaces the Battle Tower. It functions the same as the Battle Tower
Isshu has 8 badges TMs do not disappear after use
The first gym (Leader: Dento aka Green-haired waiter) involves type compatibility questions which you answer by standing on colored tiles, kind of like Blaine and Fantina's original gym
The second gym (Leader: Aloe) is similar, but requires you to know cooking knowledge. That should be wonderful for me to get through >.>

That was some good info... although I knew most of it already by browsing through the threads at Smogon, but nevertheless, this gen is looking better and better.

Hidden/Spoiler:
Broccoli-head has been revealed officially. His first appearance was with Kibago as two mini figures a few months back, but now has Sugimori artwork and a name.
Yanappu
Grass Monkey Pokemon
Grass Type
Ability: Gluttony
Moves: Acrobat (A move that can hit past the normal range in Triple Battles. Power doubles with no held item. As it is Super-Effective on Smugleaf, it is most likely a Flying Type move)
Also, expect Yanappu to be one of Dento's Pokemon, as Yanappu was shown off with the other new mascot Kibago at the same time and the show Yanappu just appeared on said one of the new anime characters would have one. This would mean that he is a Grass Leader and breaks the tradition of having the Rock Leader be the first (with the exception of Gen II, mainly because they already had another Rock Leader in the game. Plus Falkner used to give out Mud-Slap so nyeh ).
Also, I love shipping from the early time zones, especially when they ship to Alaska. "When did it leave?" "Tomorrow morning." "When will it get to the states?" "5 hours ago."
So I've had White for a few days now, it finally came in on Wednesday (only two days after the expected ship >.>), and I've got to say, this game lives up to the 40/40 from Famitsu. I've hidden the following wall of text to save your eyes and protect you from spoilers, in case you want to experience the game for yourself in March (RECOMMENDED).
Hidden/Spoiler:
The game starts off with a little cutscene after the new Gamefreak logo animation. I saw this and honestly thought I accidentally picked up a Final Fantasy game by mistake. You see creepy green haired people (just an FYI, I call the main green haired guy, Geechisu, "Dennis" because of his battle music. Listen and you'll know why. ) in medieval cloaks crowning the character known as N, for some reason. Things happen, then Araragi, the new professor, asks you for the typical stuff and then you get your starter.
In this game however, you have two rivals. Cheren gets the "You<Them" starter, as usual, but Belle gets the "You>Them" starter, which usually just gets left behind with the professor. They trash your room in the next two battles. Then you go north, find a Team Plasma rally (if the knights from Month Python joined PETA...), briefly see Dennis, and start your journey.
You get an elemental monkey in the next town, which is kind of like a secondary starter (Belle and Cheren get one too, although this time the ">" order reverses; Belle's is stronger than yours and Cheren's is weaker). I chose Smugleaf and ended up with Hiyappu, this tended to work very well for me in the earlier game, but due to a lack of Water Stone (of course I found a Leaf Stone and a Fire Stone >.>) I have since replaced Hiyappu with something else. Maybe I'll bring him back someday.
Even though the ability system started with Ruby and Sapphire, I have never seen the games since utilize it like this one does. They feel like part of the Pokemon now, not just something tacked on. You know that Dangoro (first stage of the Gigaiasu line) has Sturdy and it's going to survive any OHKO you can dish out, so damage it with a weaker attack first then go in for the main attack. You know that Desmask (first stage of Deskan/Mr. Coffin line) has the Mirror ability and will get rid of yours if you touch it, so you don't fight them with something that relies on an ability. With the older Pokemon, I've always felt like they have abilities because the newer games had them. Sure, they may have helped the Pokemon, but that often ruined the metagame. Remember when a good Earthquake would destroy a Gengar? Oh wait, he floats now. These guys just feel like they were built with abilities in mind, and that's a good thing.
The new Pokemon really do feel like a fresh start, too. Even though we all wanted Luvdisc to stop being useless, I'm glad they left the old ones out of the main story. There are times I have no idea what to expect, like a Hermit Crab with a concrete block attached to its back being Bug/Rock, or the bat of this generation not being totally useless and can actually "Attractflinch" enemies really well. This element of surprise, I feel, hasn't been around since Generation 1. I know some on this site are too young to remember the starting days of the franchise, but there was a time when few people knew what an Alakazam was, why it could destroy their entire team, and why their Kadabra wouldn't evolve into it. For a time I was wondering when Zuruggu/PANTS would evolve, but today it finally evolved after quite a few levels. I'm told some finally beat the record set by Dragonite by evolving at level 59 and higher, which should be so much fun to grind towards.
As for the difficulty, it's challenging, but not through cheap tricks like massive level jumps (Koga. Red/Blue. Screw him.) or maxed out IVs in the background (Cynthia/Lance/Red). Aloe, the second gym leader, is like if you combined Whitney with Morty. She has a level 20 Normal behemoth that knows both Hypnosis and Confuse Ray, and gets quite a lot of power from Return. I haven't lost a gym match since Fire Red, and that was Koga, but Aloe broke my streak.
As for my current team, I'm right after the Seventh Badge, with a team of:
Jaroda/SMUG Lv. 40
Zuruzukin/PANTS Lv. 41
Kokoromori/BATMA Lv. 40
Victini/VIC Lv. 43 (Ice gym for #7)
Zebraika/ZBOLT Lv. 40
Abagoora/TURTL Lv. 40
Looks like there's going to be some stuff going down, there's some random forest my rivals want me to go into.

No importing an early release from the US for us, it seems. They region-locked this game. Are Nintendo idiots? Well done for fuelling piracy because you can bet somebody will simply grab a ROM image, find a way round the region-lock, put it on a DS cart and sell it on eBay.

Two Days Ago, I wrote:It's only region locked on generation 2 (as in, launch ones appear to work but ones from soon after do not) DSis. Mine play fine on my DS Fat and DS Lite.
They might be doing this to test waters for the 3DS, to see if the piracy rate goes down. Honestly, I think after this the people who used to import and now can't anymore just downloaded the ROM, which was actually out a few days prior to the release.
So I got to the Hall of Fame today, meaning I beat the Elite 4 and Champion.
Hidden/Spoiler:
You actually have to fight the Elite 4 twice in this game. The first time, N interrupts with a giant underground castle and then you have to capture either Zekrom or Reshiram. Then you fight N with the option of switching the Legend with one of your Pokemon during the moment between the fights, and then N feels bad or something and Dennis the One True Menace appears and battles you. By the way, N has a Zoroark and totally RoarkRoll'd me by making me think he sent out Gigigear. N is redeemed and flies away on the legend you don't have.
The second time you fight the E4 is after the National Dex, so they have wonderful things like Toxicroaks and Spore Brelooms now. Every Pokemon they have are all at levels above 70, with the highest being a level 77 Urgamoth.
Also, if you get White version, you will fill up an entire box when you get to White Forest (yes, I do read the name of that place in GMan's voice ). They crammed so many Pokemon into that place I ran out of Ultra Balls.
Gray is happening, by the way. I found Kyurem today, and on closer inspection I realized why he looks the way he does. Reshiram and Zekrom represent Yin and Yang (Balance), but also Energy (Heat and Electric), Kyurem is the exact opposite. Despite the fact that he's Ice, therefore not having a lot of energy, his design is the opposite of Balance. For example, his wings are different lengths and his head and neck are longer than his body, which makes him top heavy. The ingame text says that Reshiram and Zekrom were once one Pokemon until the founders of Isshu started fighting, then they split. I believe Kyurem to be the remnant of this, and expect Gray to further explain this. Also, Kyurem has two currently unobtainable Ice moves, one which can paralyze (Zekrom) and one which can burn (Reshiram). He'll probably get a new form, too, as he's about 30 base stats under Reshiram and Zekrom.
Despite what GameFreak employees said,
Hidden/Spoiler:
Older characters do show up. When you walk downstairs after the first credits, Looker is disguised as your mother. He then has you track down the Six Plasma Sages and arrests them.
The psychic Elite 4 member is Caitlin, the co-leader of the Battle Castle in the Gen 4 Battle Frontier.
Cynthia is in a random house and fights you with a team resembling her old one, with Togekiss replaced by Wargle and Roserade replaced by Shiburudon (Levitating Pure Electric Eel/Leech).
Still no word on why Green's Kanto Champion theme is in the game. Hopefully he's there somewhere.
(I totally picture Zuruzukin having a Joe Pesci-esque voice by the way.)

So how long does it take you to be able to obtain a previous-generation Pokemon? And what's the compatability like between games? How does trading between this generation and the last work? Time Capsule ALA Gold/Silver/Crystal? Or something else?

Old Post, and if you want this done in the future please tell me and I'll do it myself.
Hidden/Spoiler:
You can get a previous generation Pokemon as soon as you get the first credits sequence. Go right from the 8th gym town, there are level 48-50 Gligar, Seviper, Zangoose, and one other that I've forgotten. There's tons more on the following routes, but be careful, the trainers there are a good 10 levels stronger than you.
The compatibility is much like 3rd to 4th gen. There's no trading, unfortunately. I haven't done it yet because the games will probably only respond to my Japanese carts and I'd have to go find those, but there's a minigame where you have to shoot Pokeball arrows at the Pokemon. Unlike the Pal Park, however, you can do this as many times a day as you want.
For the Celebi/Legendary Beasts, there is a "Transfer Machine" early on in the game, so you can get Zoroa and Zoroark during the main story and not have to wait. Of course, this also means that you can have Celebi and the Legendary Beasts before the 4th gym so I have no idea what they were thinking with that.
While I'm at it, you can trade with other 5th gen games after beating the first gym. So you have to use Minezumis and stuff to take out the waiter trio, then get your awesome-and-well-thought-out team of babies. Boo-urns.
Seeing as it's getting closer to the release for every other country besides Japan, I feel it's a good time to bring the thread back so we don't have to deal with another thread taking up space soon. Black and White are released on March 4th in Europe, March 6th in America, and March 10th in Australia.
First off, if you have any 4th Generation games, the time to get the Crown Beasts/Shiny Raikou, Suicune and Entei is now. For Europe and Australia, they will be given out over Wi-Fi on February 7th. For America and Canada, Gamestop/EB Games is giving out one per week. Raikou's event has already passed, but Entei's is coming up. Next Monday to Saturday the 23rd is Entei's event, and then Suicune is available from January 31st to February 6th. The Crown Beasts unlock a Zoroark event in Black and White, and I recommend getting these to get Zoroark because he's incredibly good at fooling the AI and learns Dark, Ghost, Psychic, and Fire moves.
Also, a Celebi for 4th Generation games is going to be distributed soon as well. This is the first Celebi event of the 4th Generation and is the first time that Celebi has been given out since 2006 in America and Europe and 2003 in Japan. Europe and Australia will be getting it sometime soon, but America will be getting it at Gamestop from February 27th to March 7th. This Celebi unlocks a final battle with Giovanni in Heart Gold and Soul Silver and when transferred to Black and White will unlock a Zorua.
A few days ago a list of English names was leaked to the internet. While some of the names seem fake, the list did include some of the names revealed today by the official website. I'll put the list in spoiler tags so for those who don't want them ruined they don't have to see it. For those who do want to know, here's the list:
That had better not be real. Roggenrolla? Wut? Darumaka staying almost the same? No. Also Serperior as a name would almost keep me from picking him. However, I'm perfectly fine with Ononoks' name on that list, Haxorus. Also okay with Dageki's name, Sock.

Hey guys, I haven't played a Pokemon game since I borrowed yellow/blue from a friend as a kid, although I did avidly follow Pokemon (as much as a little kid can) and my older sister plays a lot of the new games. Would I be totally alienated if I tried getting into Black and White?

Nah, it would just be weird to go from 151 to 649 I think. Everything is pretty much explained (minus the hidden mechanics that casual players really don't need to worry about) and there's lots of options so you don't have to just play with your starter and hope for the best. The best is not Blastoise with four water moves, despite what the cool kids back in the 90s thought.
Also, Black and White feel like a bit of a series reboot. While you can still import your old Pokemon from past games and keep using them, if you just play Black and White themselves it really brings back that feeling of Red and Blue when you had no idea what was going on and why that gas cloud with the face isn't being hit by Tackle. TCG stuff:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Heck, even the TCG brought back some of the old cards. "Klinklank" is basically a reprint of Base Set Venusaur, "Reuniclus" is Base Set Alakazam without Confuse Ray, and they brought back Gust of Wind. Most of the finalists last year couldn't even read the words Gust of Wind when that card was banned.

Old Post with spoilers
Hidden/Spoiler:
If anyone missed the Shiny Legendary Beast events, apparently the European Wi-Fi events work for both American and Australian games as well. Raikou is 7th-13th, Entei is 14th-20th, Suicune is 21st-27th. Also remember that Celebi will be given out at Gamestop in America on the 21st to (possibly) March 7th.
Also, a list of Trainer and City names was revealed yesterday due to a demo and other sources.
In Order:
Striaton City: Leaders Cilan, Chili, and Cress
Narcene City: Leader Lenora
Castelia City: Leader Burgh
Nimbassa City: Leader Elesa
Driftveil City: Leader Clay
Mistralton City: Leader Skyla
Icirrus City: Leader Brycen
Opelucid City: Leader Iris (White) Leader Drayden (Black)
Team Plasma:
N -> N
G C#/Geechisu/DEEEEEENNIS -> Ghetsis (a play on the drum pitches of his battle theme)
Other Towns:
Nuvema Town (Home to Player Characters Blair and Whitlea, Professor Juniper, Bianca, and Cheren)
Black City and White Forest keep their names
Looks like the theme of this generation is Clouds. Better than 4th generation's random names and 3rd's weird combination of what the town had (Lily Cove, Petal Burg...). Still would have liked to see what would have happened if they stuck to colors. Lightish Red Town, Purple Mountain's Majesty City...
So as the rest of the world releases draw closer (March 4th for Europe, March 6th for America, March 10th for Australia), I'd like to once again recommend these games. If you left the franchise years ago, these games really provide a fresh experience with all new Pokemon choices (no more Zubat/Geodude swarms halting your progress every five steps) and a really good evil team story that doesn't involve putting on hoods and draining the oceans or starting gambling chains. If you're on the fence and bought the last two (Heart Gold and/or Soul Silver) the games are surprisingly updated for being on the same system, and you can always transfer the Pokemon you got in those two games to further complete your army/collection of monsters.
(Oh, and if anyone wants a Snarl Zoroa, I have an event Zoroark with the move and it breeds onto them. I'll put my Friend Code up when I know what it is.)
Also, OCRemix came out with their album The Missingno Tracks today. It contains a mixture of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen music and it's free. Go download it.
