Env. mapping (?)

I'm trying to create a new unit, and i want light to leave his shoulder... I wondered; is this environmental mapping? And how would i do this? Thanks in advance

that may have to do with alpha levels in skinning but i am not sure...

Here is all I know.
ENV maps, in BF2, are a simple textures that are set on-top of the mesh, in a manner, so as it seems, the mesh is reflecting the image, which produces a glossy, shiny effect.
ENV maps, can (In one way or another) be added in XSI, as the shipped Rebel Tantave trooper's helmet has it.
It can also be hex edited on, however, this will apply it to the whole mesh, making it imprecise, for things requiring more localized mapping.
