So I had three Gamestop gift cards hiding in my room, totaling $150. I can still get another game, too, so I decided to get TFU2 first.

I will start with gameplay, because it was the best thing about the game. If you liked the first game, or even Bayonetta, you'll love this game. I loved activating the rage mode/hyper mode and using mind trick on everyone, and of course the improved grapple moves. The dash events were kind of annoying as the game really doesn't like reading the boost dash like it did in the first game, but they fit. The falling parts were also really fun, even though I didn't get any of those "avoid damage" achievements during them. I'll have to go back and get those I guess.

Loading times have been greatly reduced, no longer does the menu take 30 seconds to open, and the only time they even need to load is when you switch costumes (by the way, if you have a TFU1 file completed you can use the default, evil ending, and good ending costumes from the start)
Some of the lightsaber crystals now have secondary effects, like health regeneration and fire. Exp is quite easy to some by, so don't worry about maxing out at least two force abilities during the course of the game. I chose to max out my sabers and force push (for some reason >.>), and lightsabers actually are a good option in this game.

Now, for the story and story related complaints, I'm going to put this in spoiler tags:
Hidden/Spoiler:
They really want to make this the replacement for the original trilogy. Much like my complaints with Metroid Other M, there are way too many similarities with the Original Trilogy that would ruin the events in the OT because they already happened.
Apparently every Jedi with a problem goes to see Yoda, even though Obi-wan is supposed to be the only one who even knows about where he is and if he's alive. It's almost like Yoda runs a business in EU. "Send him to Yoda's Soul Searching Amusement Park on Dagobah, he's waiting outside to give you a ticket! Jedi go in for free, Sith are $20!" Vader also takes electricity and tries to lightning hug you, and you know what electricity did to him in Episode 6.
Also, Starkiller is just way too powerful. He takes out the Gorog by ramming through it while falling for well over 3000 feet. The Gorog pretty much brings down an entire city and crushes/eats Imperial Baron John McCain (no, seriously, he looks like him), which makes you wonder how Starkiller can even damage the thing. Then he is flying a rebel frigate, crashes it through Kamino's atmosphere, jumps out the window and flies like Superman down to the facility. Seriously, he even grabs a TIE Fighter and does the classic "spin three times and throw into the sun" thing.

As for the ending, it's either getting a sequel or the series will end up like KotOR. We never figure out if he's a clone or not, Vader loses another hand and is locked up like Hannibal Lector, and the Alliance is going to get information from Vader somehow. The dark side ending isn't even as cool as the first game's, another clone just kills you, Juno, and Kota (which is a break of canon, he's alive in Elite Squadron fighting the Death Star). So this game was really just a bridge between the first and third games and with all Star Wars games being canceled, it will most likely be a bridge to nowhere.
In summary, plays great, looks great (love the graphics on Kamino and Cato Nemoidia), but the story and Starkiller's abilities are just too out of place in the Star Wars Universe for me to take the game seriously. I say rent it, or get it for free like I did. I'm sure I'll be paying for the DLC at some point though.

I figured that at the very least we could get a decent story out of this game but based on what I've read/watched they didn't even give us that. It's all just a setup for a third game, which I thought was already canceled.

TFU3 was already in development. Already cancelled.

Oh, and you don't need a completed game for the extra costumes, any TFU1 savegame will do.

Regardless of what has been said, I'm still thinking about getting it. I was gonna buy it on Steam but then I read the reviews and now I'm gonna buy it at my local Target so that if I don't like it, then I can return it. Whereas with Steam, what you buy, you keep. No refunds.

Knowing that I won't ever be getting this game due to not owning any current generation consoles or an adequate PC, I watched an entire walkthrough of it (PS3 version) on Youtube with both light and dark side endings. Even though I didn't technically play the game, I found it to be rather repetitive, in a "meh-ish" kind of way. There doesn't appear to be any variety in locations (it's either on Kamino or near it for the majority of the game). Enemy types seem to be lacking compared to the first game. Nonetheless, it was pure Star Wars entertainment. I thought the story was very well told. I also somehow got the urge of wanting to rewatch RotS, ESB, and RotJ again. One other thing:
Hidden/Spoiler:
Am I the only one who was thinking, "Hey, that's the HK-Flyer from Terminator." during a couple portions of the Cata Nemoidia level?

I've been watching some Youtube videos to see how the story plays out, and I actually haven't been too impressed. I feel like there's a lack of transitions between events, or at the very least a lack of background information for why things are happening. I think this is a prime example of when not to follow the "less is more" approach.

The visuals look nice, though, and the gameplay looks like it could be enjoyable, if not a little repetitive at times. If I had an Xbox 360 or PS3 I would probably rent the game just to enjoy a good hack 'n' slash adventure.

I haven't played the game or watched videos of it, but judging by the reception, it could probably be summed up as this: All flash and no substance.

I have watched a complete walkthrough too, and I really like what I have seen.

In my opinion this game is superior to it's predecessor, this game makes more sense, it is more... "realistic". Starkiller's abilities seem to have been toned down a bit (and to me that's a plus), the Imperial forces actually try to use rational strategies to defeat the apprentice (such as sending in walkers to distract him while snipers try to get a shot on him from a secure position), Darth Vader does not engage him head on mindlessly as he did in the first game and our protagonist is not an invincible man capable of doing anything (the game does have some far-fetched moments, but I guess it's an unavoidable gimmick of the series).

Besides, I like the presentation of the story and the characters, for a hack 'n' slash game it was very well thought out, it wasn't as pretentious as the first game, this time the story is humble, believable and the characters have their individual story arcs developed much further.

Yeah, there are less planets to visit than the first game, but then again, most of them were just repetitions; to me they felt like padding and added absolutely nothing to the experience, at least in this game the developers kept it straight to the point.

The only real downside is the combat, which is repetitive and rather uninteresting, but yeah, I'm impressed, The Force Unleashed II is the exact opposite of what I expected it to be, and I'm satisfied with that.

Hm...see, that's what I disagree with. I feel like the story had lots of potential to fit your description - I really like the mystery of whether or not Starkiller is a clone and all the conflicts that arise from that, but from what I've seen it seems like the game depends too much upon the player to fill in the blanks. The foundation of the story is great, but like I said earlier, the transitions - all the events that tell you why the story is progressing or why you should care - are missing.

Ah well, in the end it's just a game. If I want a good story I'll go open up a book. :P

Wait... that was supposed to be a mystery? To me it seems pretty obvious that he is a clone, since there is absolutely no evidence indicating otherwise, just old Rahm Kota saying "you can't clone a Jedi", which isn't true.

That kind of makes me wonder why they never cloned Darth Vader.

Perhaps because you CAN'T clone a jedi :P

Luke's clone
Palpatine's clone
Jorus C'baoth's clone
Darth Maul's clone(?)
And let's not forget Falon Grey and his clones, X-1 and X-2.
To my surprise, there is even a Darth Vader clone! Huh... :?

That's fine for you, but they do exist in the Star Wars universe, and Kota's remark is wrong, whether from ignorance or self-righteousness. What sets Star Wars apart from Star Trek is its consistent continuity. Anyway, that said, the story did look like it wasn't long enough on actual game-play to justify spending 40 bucks for the PC version. The story, plot, didn't bother me much at all (well except the light-side ending), and the graphics look improved, and the physical game-play looks fine; I just don't think it looked like it had that much re-playability, which is arguably the single most important factor when considering purchasing a game. I agree that it looks like a decent rental, but until Steam has one of its super-star-wars-sales, I can wait to buy it.

I think this game would have been better suited as a "Light Side Ending" expansion for the first game much like the Ultimate Sith Edition was an expansion on the original dark side ending.

i agree for the most part, but star trek does not hold true to its bcannon, just look at Enterprise, they are fighting romulans when that did not happen till "balance of terror" in the origanal. yeah the suppossed war between the federation and the romulans is in the cannon, but they never fuoght them with phasers and proton torpedoes, they foughtb them with nuclear weapons. this concludes my rant, i am not fighting or anything, i am just pointing this out
