Quick question from (Beginning Modeling in XSI)

Quick question from (Beginning Modeling in XSI)

So i was skinning and got to this part

Now you open the explorer window in the lower right quadrant, and adjust the quadrants so that the bottom two are smaller.  Highlight body and hit alt 7 , and this will open the texture editor.
i don't know where that is at

edit: also when i save a scene(dont know what that is) it saves it in .exp and when I want to load it again it says i can not be opened why is that

edit: also im making a ship with a hanger from the stock sides

as you can see the hanger is there but the .msh of the ship is blocking it how can i get rid of the wall
