Free 3d models on the internet?

If I wanted to use 3d models created by other people on the internet, such as on these sites:
http://www.huntfor.com/3d/links.htm
Am I allowed to?
Is it a violation of he EULA?
And if I were allowed to, how would I go about crediting them?
If this is regarded as illegal, I have no clue, as they are downloadable.
Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

If they are free for download, specificly for other people to use in various ways, I don't think you have to ask permssion.
I would credit them, but other then that.
I suppose you could try contacting them, but it would no doubt be very hard.
I all in all, I don't think its illegal, thinking logicly.
But the legal system isn't logical is it?

I forgot to say that I meant for use in maps/mods I'm making for SWBF2.
Not necessarily related to your post, Caleb, just making sure everyone understood that.

Give full credits, links to their site if they have one. If you were to edit the models ask them for permission first unless stated otherwise.

Yeah. Free is free, they're there to be downloaded and used, innit. Many times there's a catch though, and you get crappy models while you have to pay for nice ones

Is good, most of it costs money, but you can find some pretty decent free stuff.
