Hey guru, just to let you know there are people using your name on the Guru Chat, and abusing it.

For SWBF2:
I have uploaded in their entirety from filefront (except for what was already uploaded) these sections so far:
official releases
tutorials
media>wallpapers
media>screenshots
media>other
media>videos
menu screens
contest
maps>map packs
maps>machinima maps
maps>beta maps
maps
utilities>level tools
utilities>texture tools>texture packs
utilities>source files and packs
utilities
mods
mods>total conversions and big mods
mods>mini-mods
mods>mini-mods>weapon mods
mods>mini-mods>vehicle mods
mods>mini-mods>map mods
mods>mini-mods>character mods
in other words, unless I missed a category somewhere, SWBF2 UPLOADS ARE FINISHED! YAY!
A few of these files didn't validate when I uploaded them, most of which are from the maps section, and also for Geonosis: Jedi Battle (0.5) - 90jbg.zip in the beta maps section, I accidentally gave it the wrong info, then deleted it, and was unable to reupload it since the .zip is still uploaded.

For gt planning and future progress I want to know what direction the backend should take :
1. How are upload speeds and download speeds currently? I am working from a 12 mb connection so its unfair to base it all on my rocket speeds. If you can post sample download speeds for your isp that would be most helpful.
2. Are there still many features not working? If someone can tell me what addons are needed most I can add them or what issues , if any are reported recently are most annoying?
3. Hardrive space, we now have @1000 files ,how much more file/upload/storage for our own works and conversions and such etc.. do you forsee or do we need, as an idea of current usage, ( which is upgradable with costs covered ) the drive for gt can hold exactly double of what is up now and serve it free with donation/ads etc..adding more drives will allow for more space in the future but again thats with some sort of "constant real support other then random donations and ads (which arent up thank the lord i hate spam)"
Thanks for any feedback anyone can put on this , im very verbose so feel free to put short easy answers to my long drawn out questions and hey happy easter!

My download speeds have been fairly good; no less than 310 KB/s, compared to my Filefront download speed range of around 50 KB/s to 380 KB/s.

Don't know if this has already been mentioned or not sorry if it has but the Search Tool for the Downloads Section at GT Files isn't working. I've tried searching any words and I made sure it was set correctly. Is anyone else having any issues with it?

Other than the search not displaying more than 20 results with no way to view the rest, I haven't noticed a problem.
It should be noted that the News button at the top still gets a 404 error.

Ah, the search is working now. Don't know what was up because it kept saying zero results and now it shows a bunch of files with the same key words and options I used earlier today!

I don't think it works quite perfectly, I haven't always been able to find files that do in fact exist...usually though.
Also I can't get to the tutorials by clicking on the sidebar for both SWBF1 and SWBF2. It displays the message "Not Authorized" above the main downloads menu rather than going into the tutorials category.

Apparently no one knows why I'm marked as the the creator of (almost) all files. I uploaded the majority of SWBF2 files, but definitely not all of them...I'd estimate that about 150-250 of them were not uploaded by me. I am not uploading any SWBF1 material.

Ah, yes, I think it's worth noting that the "Category" field of the file submission process tends to switch itself to SWBF2 Mappacks.

We're looking into it, but ya - nobody knows why.
To Everyone Who Uploaded: THANK YOU!!! It's been awesome to see the community step up and take charge.

well have to call all file uploaders jaspo for now on since the site doesnt credit anyone else! Great work jaspo! It is basically an issue in the joomla uploader/permissions , i sent in a request to get it fixed with the creator of the extension. Who knows on the eta but its nothing I can fix in the amount of time I have right now.

This post is an in-depth look at the first submission glitch.
so lets move this from guru chat and put it in chronological order:
jaspo : yeah, uh, something does need to be done about that first-submission glitch
_ddc_theking : lol
jaspo : either all or none should show up before being validated, but having that happen with only the first one is very odd.
jaspo : also idk why but the admins always need to ask which category the "glitched" files belong in...odd, doesn't it say in the file information? Or does the desired location specification not get included for some reason?
jaspo : The latter scenario would make it a true glitch rather than simply a nuisance.
To be as clear as possible about it, whenever the site is first opened in a new window in a browser, the first file to be uploaded or manipulated will not be visible to the users after the green checkmark is pressed. All files submitted or altered after this one will be visible. similarily, the messages regarding files are messed up the first time, for example if the first file submitted already exists, no message stating as much will appear, as is supposed to happen, but it does go back to the file selection page (the page after the file submission page), with no red message appearing at that point.
These glitched files do exist on the site after their submission, along with the info provided, but the admins must approve them, though I am still not sure if they do so by simply pressing the "checkin" button or by some other means. If that is all they need to do then I do not understand why they always need to ask which category these "rogue" files are supposed to be put into.
Edit: ps. re:
Ah, yes, I think it's worth noting that the "Category" field of the file submission process tends to switch itself to SWBF2 Mappacks.
any time something occurs other than a successful upload, the category will be reset to mappacks. So, if you upload a file that already exists, it will tell you, and then reset the category. I believe that the next submission after the glitched first submission will also reset the category. I am fairly sure that reloading the page will reset the category. opening the page in a new window will both reset the category in the new window and cause the first-submission glitch for the first file uploaded in the new window. Any sort of error (such as unsupported file type) will reset the category. Basically, if anything at all happens to break your steady flow of uploads, be sure to check the category on the next one you upload.

you may already know this but filefront is still up.
"FileFront has been acquired by the original founders of the site and will NOT be suspended as previously announced. This is NOT an April Fool's Joke." - filefront message.

Yeah...we already know. That has been talked about for a while now.
