Seems Activision has fired the heads of Infinity Ward, studio responsible for the creation of Modern Warfare 2. Furthermore, the franchise has been turned over from the now-crippled IW to Sledgehammer Games, the team behind Dead Space.

While it doesn't affect me much, it's still very interesting to see such a massive franchise change owners.BFII anyone?

That's unfortunate.

Man that is owned in the pants!
According to this report, Infinity Ward has not been paid royalties for Modern Warfare 2 despite the game turning in roughly a million bazillion dollars - which would go a long way towards explaining the "tense" atmosphere.
Hmm, the same thing happened to Alan Moore on several of his comics.

Hah. Considering how 2/3 of the MW2 content sucked (Campaign and Spec Ops were two of the worst things I've ever experienced in a video game) and then the MP had its fair share of epic fails, (shotguns as secondaries? really? and then wasteland, javelins, tactical nukes, annoying glitches that don't get patched, etc.) I'm personally glad to see it leave IW.

To be entirely honest, I agree with you. I've only played a few hours of multiplayer and spec-ops at a friend's house, but I can't say I enjoyed Modern Warfare 2, and I like to think Call of Duty can do better.

Of course, why Activision would commit financial suicide is beyond me.

I hope the two founders win. It's going to be a tough battle since Activision's lawyers are crazy good.

I care less who wins the lawsuit as far as money goes and more that West and Z-boy will be leading in the production of next year's COD game (after Treyarch's supposed Cold War game). And the mainstay of MW2 is multiplayer gaming. Its hardly appropriate to say that 2/3 of the game sucked if you didn't like Spec Ops and Campaign.

I'm not too keen on Sledgehammer taking this into the action-adventure genre though.

I know. I hate around half of MP's aspects, such as perks, akimbo weapons, and shotguns as secondaries.

Any game with 90% of content (OK, I'm exaggerating, but you get the point) locked in MP is a poor one in my book.
