hey i found this on that swrebellion site. its an xj xwing. maybe you could use the design for a new rebel starfighter
http://saxman.xwlegacy.net/images/XwingCompareTOP.jpg
btw that is the site that hosts the hw2 star wars mod.

Only one problem with this is that I can't make models, so I was going to ask someone if they could make some of the Yuuzan Vong's ships but it would probably be asking to much for them to remake a X-wing when we could just use the one from the Rebellion
and yes I typed that all in one breath

i think that is a mo del that someone made...for a different mod. we can look into it more once the mod tools come out i guess

Models are made with programs like XSI so the Mod Tools for SWBF2 would probably not let you create models.

I've seen a skip somewhere... It was awhile ago but someone made a skip for JK or something like that. Can't remeber but I saw the skip. At the time i was like "What in the world is this? A peice of coral?? Why make that" but now i know. It'd be a kinda hard model to make but definatly do able. You'd have to pay alot of attention to detail I think.
EDIT: Found one

See.. Doable. you just have to be imaginative. I always imagined them differently but I guess whoever the author is gets to let their minds eye run wild.

we'd already found that pic, but thanks. & thats more or less the way ive usually seen skips illustrated, well, except for the blue color scheme.
oh, and that was a mod for XWA, apparently. thats where i found the pic of the xj as well. i also noticed one of a chiss clawcraft, but thats planning a little too far ahead. although come to think of it, a chiss mod would be sweeeeet...

I think Majin was the one who created a coral skipper for Jedi Academy.

ok here is my dream for Dustrillion:
Matalok______Asteroid Field_____________Dustrillion
It is a pretty simple idea I wish this could be a space/land map but It might just be a space map with Dustrillion using the Ralroost for a capital ship.
Unless someone can think of a way to make a space/land map look any good
Just saw your post Era would the same model be able to be used in SWBF2?

wow, these look great!
but, maybe we should focus more on the capitol ships?
what are they gonna look like, big massive blobs, huge chunks of rock, etc?

hendaz I was hoping it would turn out to look like the one on the cover of "Dark Tide I Onlsaught"
I'll try to find a picture though
EDIT: found one

It is half massive blob and half giant rock
This one is on the book cover
some more

dark tide 1 onslaught cover:
http://books.echostation.com/darktide1.jpg
from what i can remember, there are 5 different types of vong cap ships.
the rough, blobby ones like the one in the above picture. these are by far the most common, all of their standard military ships are based on this. they come in many sizes and a couple of variants.
theres one that looks like a black(?) jewel, such as harrar's priestship.
there's the "clustership" that's described as a bunch of balloons or something, the one that, was it skidder? (spoilers) allowed himself to be captured and wound up caring for the yammosk alongside the ryn. (end spoilers)
theres the worldships of course, i saw a picture of them on that xwa mod site, i can look it up if you want.
and there's the blobbish slave transport (spoiler) the one saba blew up with the barabel slaves (end spoiler).
you can take your pick of which one you want, but i doubt we could find pictures of the priestship, clustership, or transport. (i've never seen any)
oh, i just remembered there is a picture of coralskippers on the cover of star by star. it also has them firing molten rocks or whatever.
http://books.echostation.com/starbystar.jpg
bottom right corner
i thought of something else we could do that would probably be fairly simple (it only uses stuff already in the game). we could remove one of the rebels special classes and replace it with a modified magnaguard as a yvh droid. we could give it the bothans regeneration, a powered up blaster (maybe the award one) and missiles, td's, and/or a powered down version of the dark troopers (one of the books mentioned something about an electroray).
edit: ah, i see you got to the cover first.

Thanks for the info, does anyone know if or where the hangar would be on a matalok?

errr, that brings up a problem, actually. the only references i remember to where coralskippers land is on the outside of the ship, sorta like the droid starfighters on the cap ship over coruscant in the beginning of epIII. since its not really practical to put fighters all over the sides of a ship, you could really put the hangar anywhere you wanted, unless we figure out a way to do it. alternately, you could see if its possible to put a sort of designated landing zone on top of the ship, but that brings up a whole nother set of issues.

Well, the first ever space maps for SW:BF1 you could land your ships anywhere on the stardestroyer/mon cal ship's surface, very strange, although it was even wierder to see people walking around on the surface too... especially rebels since they dont have an enclosed flight suit like the imperials, fun map though!. I suppose you would hav to give it a mixture of space map settings and land settings... could be difficult, but worth it!

I have edited it but in a earlier post I was talking about a battle on and over Dantooine and I meant Dustrillion

by dreadlordnyax
o ok. dantooine would still make a great land battle. i think it was the first major one (could be wrong about that tho)
and the issue with an outside launch zone is that some people would take to strafing the enemy before they could get in their fighters, making it rather irritating level to play. we'll see tho, that may be our best option, depending on whether we want to go for accuracy to the books or mp balance.

dantooine was the first big land battle and it would probably be a land battle. The New Republic would have ships (just objects) around a cp wiht a lot of turrets while the Yuuzan Vong would just have themselves and maybe those slug like tanks. With all the flora and fauna it would look a little like Felucia but with less of the flora.
and maybe for an outside launch zone there could be an invisible shield....buy if that can't be arranged we might just have to make it inaccurate.

what about rakamats (ranges)? wasn't there one on dantooine? we'd definitely need to include one of those.
im not sure what you mean by "outside launch zone"...
and what "fauna" was there on the felucia map besides the acklays in the campaign?
