The Battlefront 3 Mod [PROJECT CANELED 6/11/2013]

Hello Gametoast. Those with an astute eye may have noticed it's August 17th. Those with the extra astute eye may have noticed it, being August 17th, is my one year anniversary of being a member of GT. Thus I decided to reveal my current project.

Battlefront 3. Yes I know, ambitious title. I know the title invokes that this mod would be massive, and perhaps wrongfully so. But I like the title, so I would like to keep it.

First and foremost: What is this mod?
This mod sets out to make something in the Pandemic-Style. Mods like BFX, and BFO are superb, but are certainly not done in a style Pandemic would have done. This is in no way a bad thing, my TCW mod set out to be as different from Battlefront as I could. Now, this does not mean I will do something I hate just to be like Pandemic.
This mod is mainly two things.
-A graphic update. I always wanted things to look much better than they do, so I set out to do so.
-A Side mod. As if we haven't see one of those before. The sides are all edited, and I worked for quite a long time to try and make it balanced. I am happy with the result.

There will be a BF3 Galactic Civil War Era and a BF3 Clone Wars Era.

-Sides no longer inacuratly diverse (no rebel smuggler for example, now an engineer).

-Accurate sounds for all weapons
-AI Heroes
-Advanced Saber Combat like in my TCW mod
-Custom HUD (if I bother with getting a full ingame.lvl made)

Well, the way I see it, Battlefront Renegade squadron looked really great because of the running animations. The animations alone can make your game look so much different from the previous version.

Are you going to update the map textures as well, just so the troops do not look out of place.

Are you working on this and your TCW mod simultaneously or is the TCW mod part of this mod?

I am working on them both simultaneously. They are actually 2 of 3 large mods I am working on. However, one was put on hold to free up time for this mod.


TCW is a huge mess right now, so progress is slow. I have worked very hard to keep BF3 organized, and so progress speed is very fast compared to TCW.

It's not empty, it's a secret. :wink:


And I would never have Ackbar as a hero unit. He is an Admiral, he does not belong on the battlefield.

He was a warrior during The Clone Wars, but he is getting old for fighting on the front lines during the GCW. I may consider Wedge, but I don't need any more rebel heroes. I have plenty of Rebel and Republic heroes.

Wow, this looks ambitious. I've got one qualm. You did say the GCW screens were old, but I don't expect this was something you changed. You've got dirty skins on the stormtroopers, but the bloom is going insane. It's like they went through a picky carwash. If you're going for dirty, remove the bloom (it's overrated anyways). If you want the rank and file shine, get rid of the dirt.

Actually this is exactly why I said they were old. I am going through trial and error trying to find the best look for them. I probably will end up removing the specular though. I also toned the dirt down as well, and added a little more on the helmet.

Glad I can help you out. This mod looks interesting. Sometimes when I'm modding, I just want to purge Pandemics way of making units, but then I play some LAN with stock sides and remember that it wasn't all that bad, gameplay just needed a few tweaks, then I think about the tweaks I would make... and end up going all the way to purging.... This looks like a few tweaks, plus some overall graphical improvement, which should be interesting to see. :thumbs:
