Arbitrary spawn locations? --SOLVED

Post by authraw »

Ugh, I've been wrestling with this bug for a long time and I can't seem to figure it out for the life of me. My units spawn in seemingly arbitrary locations--not the places where I have spawn paths.

I have a feeling it has something to do with the fact that in the early stages of the map, I moved the cps and spawn paths around to spots on the map where the terrain was flat in a more or less arbitrary fashion. Now that I have all of my terrain worked out and my objects placed, I wanted to go back and put the CPs exactly where I want them. Now that I've done so, it seems, it doesn't recognize the fact that the spawn paths have been moved again. Or something.

The thing that gets me is the fact that I added a new CP (cp5) to conquest from scratch and it works just fine. It's only cps 1-4 that I have problems with.

I have checked to be sure that the cps point to the correct spawn path names and I have even tried deleting the spawn paths and replacing them. I have tried cleaning multiple times and it doesn't seem to make any difference. I have this problem in every mode and era.

Any suggestions? Has anyone run into this one before?

I haven't encountered this before, but maybe you should try deleting the command posts and spawn paths that are the trouble, save the map and exit ZE. Then bring ZE back up again, load your map, and place them now. Ze should accept that, and realize the change made.
Hope this helps.

Tried it--it didn't seem to have any effect.

It's the strangest thing--the units spawn in places where there aren't any spawn nodes at all! I'm so confused...

Well try what Fionewe said. Erase all cps and spawn points and anything that has to do with them from ZE and from the LUA. Delete the cps, spawn regions, edit the LUA, and maybe even the regions linked to the cps.

Then clean-and-munge again.

THen go back and add them all back to the LUA and ZE including the regions and spawn points, etc.

Then clean and munge again.

Its probably going to be back-breaking work and maybe even somewhat over the top close to unnecessary but its neary 100% fool proof (I can't think of anything).

Well, thankfully, I have found a slightly less taxing solution...

I have solved it by changing the names of all of the spawn paths and then having the CPs point to the new spawn path names. I guess the game didn't recognize the new spawn path locations when they had the old names.

I still have no idea what caused this problem, but at least I've found an effective solution. ;)

Thanks for your suggestions, guys.
