wont let me play my game when i try to open it.
i clicked onto the icon after installation; the game originally did have add ons on it, but i deleted them when i started getting error messages. this still does not work even with the addon completely removed.
so i reinstalled, still got the message.

Additional notices:
wont the error messages says "fatal" on it.
the game doesn't start up at all
was reinstalled after removing addons
BF2
is using XP

HELP! :runaway:

the same thing kinda happened to me olnly it was after i had played the game i started it but it crashed so i was all mad :x but then after a couple days it worked again. So either just wait a day or so or try running it as adminastrator if both those dont work i cant help you.

Foolproof fix:
1) Uninstall
2) Go to your Lucasarts folder
3) Delete whatever is left of the Star Wars: Battlefront II folder
4) Reinstall

Two questions: Are you using vista, xp, or win7? Are you using BF1 or BF2?

I am going to assume its BF2 since he posted this in the SWBF2 General Talk forum not the SWBF1 Forum.

It's also his first post on the forums; he could have made a mistake.

On that note, welcome to GT. :)

Try installing the game to a different location.
Such as C:\Lucasarts\Swbf2

hmm this same thing happened to me just now...

after a few tries i decided to use the debugger version and then look at the bf log

this is what it says...

Code: Select all

Opened logfile BFront2.log 2011-06-14 1840

Message Severity: 5
.\Graphics\Pc\pcRedRenderer.cpp(1163)
Cannot create Direct3D device! Error: 0x8876086c
so now two people need help...

EDIT: i didn't get any new mods, it was working and then i moved the ingame and side file/folder out of the folder to test something and then put them back, so that it should all work.

i don't know if this is connected but my zero editor stoped working today too. i was just using it earlier this week.

also just now my particle editor stopped working... and i was using it less than an hour ago

let me go see if restarting the computer helps.

Ummm that's not a good sign. First try restarting your computer...(this actually works sometimes). Have you changed any settings or installed anything lately? Here's something to try: On the start menu type in the run area type "dxdiag", let it load, and click on the Display tab and see if there are any errors.

@Wulf and fiodis, Exactly what you said Fiodis, I thought he might have made a mistake so I thought it best to ask him.
@Dakota WHOA! I've actually never solved a problem by rebooting ( I actually made the problems worse a couple of times when I rebooted. ) :cpu:
@daniel12345, don't you just hate it when people post their problem but don't tell you if they fixed it or not? :runaway:
