Reskinning Existing Troopers
I made some cool new skins for the Republic troopers and put them into the msh folder in C:\BF2_ModTools\data_LOL\Sides\rep\msh, replacing the old ones.
However, when I munge and open it in Battlefront, the skins are normal. Any ideas?
Oh--I also changed the lua thing to dc:\\SIDE or whatever. So that's not the problem.
Thanks

Vyse-- I needed to put the Shell folder contents from C:\BF2_ModTools\assets\Shell into the Shell folder in the _BUILD folder inside the mod directory, and put the C:\BF2_ModTools\assets\sides\Common folder into the Sides folder of the mod directory, then once everything is there you run ModTools Visual Munge from the _BUILD folder in your mod directory.
It's actually not a complicated skin. I did some saturation and lightness adjusting in Photoshop, made a few minor changes with brushes, and added the Jolly Rogers.

it's simple image editing, problem is some people have the talent, others don't... and some don't have good enough image editors, I am Photoshop trained
The textures are just image files you open and edit, I have training in image editting so it's not like something you can write a step-by-step tut on.

I think he was asking how to get them into the game.OOM-9 wrote:it's simple image editing, problem is some people have the talent, others don't... and some don't have good enough image editors, I am Photoshop trained

You dont need to be trained to edit textures .....all you need to know is to basically use layers and use differing Opacity with such things as 'soft light' , 'overlay' etc.
if you do that then your set .
the less good skins are ones that people have just colored onto the tga without using opacity( i did this for my 1st few skins)
I think i'll leave reskinning clone troopers since there will be thousands to choose from lol
