Read the Documentation ( there I didnt say go to the instructions).
Also run a search of the forums using specific key words and check the sticky topics. All the answers are there.
I taught myself how to mod SWBF1 & 2 over the course of 1-2 weeks through this method. YOU have to be willing to take the time to work it out yourself. No body here has time to help with the modding basics as we are all busy with our own respective projects. We can answer advanced questions though once you know the basics.

0) staff isn't really bad, there jast stricter than at SotG
1) a lua is a text file that is used to:
-a-script in events(like in the campain)
-b-set up call units a vehicles so they show up in your map
-c-various other stuff
2) Cleaning is well I'll explain mungeing first.
When you munge its like shoveing meat into a sausage grinder, it locates all the files you've added to your world, or modifyed, and compresses them into fewer bigger files, which make up the contents of the three letter mod map folders.
when you clean, it tells the munge not to look for updated, and new things, but to re-read EVERYTHING, after you clean, the next munge can take HOURS, but it can often fix problems, due to the munge not reading some files like it should.
3) hex code is like... well all diffrent kind of files can be opened in a hex editor and modified, where as when you open some files with notepad or something its just a senceless pile of wierd characters, hex turns that into actual words and numbers. Kinda hard to expalin, but its simple. (mostly)
4) No idea, need more detail.
5) Same thing as 4
On anouther note, the documentation is very usefull.
Offtopic: perhaps I should make a glossary of modding terms...

No one asked you to come here. And you're not even in the clan. So shush. By the way you just posted I'm guessing that you
still havent read the rules. You should go do that.

HEY! NO POSTING IN ALL CAPS!

And you might just want to calm down.
If a GT staff member says you have an attitude problem... Heh, they're probably right
Oh, and if you don't want to be here, then don't be here

Seriously. Read the Mod Tools' instructions/documentations, they do tell you how to get started. Zero Edit can crash because of a different screen display, if You have 16-bit monitor display, switch it to 32-bit, or vice-versa.
And now, to talk about your little "Temper tantrum."
Look, if your not going to explain your problems with the mod tools, we can't help you. How would you feel if some random person comes up and says "Hey, I don't know how to mod. Tell me how to do it in detail wasting your time because I'm too lazy to read the documentations".
Idle threats have never, and will never work on us. You can leave if you want.
And you think you actually joined [GT] by signing up at the site? [GT] clan members can only be let in by direct order of the staff itself. How? By doing numerous helpful things and not being a jerk.
Another reminder to not double post, read the rules, and don't post in capital letters.
Good day to you sir, I'm off. Keep this up and you will be too.

Dude, we ALL had to read the docs to learn how to use the tools. Someone can't just say 'this is how you do it' if you don't understand the principles behind what they're saying. If you're not willing to read the docs you'll never understand what you need to do your mod. So if you're not willing to read the docs & tutorials + the FAQ thread then you're probably stuck as far as working on any mod or map. Because guess what,
we won't spoon feed you, and that's the position of everyone here. We all had to learn the tools, you'll have to as well. Now when questions arise we are all happy to help, but at least read the getting started doc in the mod tools at minimum.

Slightly Off-Topic
1-The only way to join the clan is by invitation. At this rate you're not looking good.
2-Posting in all caps is against the rules. Do it again and it's a warning. We have almost 3000 members and they all act civilized. Posting in caps is NOT civilized.
