It seems that I'm not doing something correctly, because every time I try to put in a custom sky (tga, right dimensions, used Kamino's dome, etc), I just get a white sky. Please help - the white is burning my eyes.

I've had the white sky problem in ze...I think the problem occured when I was using GIMP to edit the sky texture. I didn't export it as a .tga properly and the sky came out white...I'm not sure what the problem is for you though, if you are using assets straight

It's not a shipped sky, it's a custom one that I saved as a TGA file. But I didn't save using Gimp, I saved using XnView (much less advanced than GIMP).

Do you get any errors when munging? I've been having a white sky problem recently because sky_yav_texture.req or something was corrupt. I searched for the file and deleted it, and now it works fine. (Except it's only showing the yavin texture and not my reskinned one) But you should try it. I think... I don't know, your choice.

I'm totally guessing but check the alpha layer to make sure its the same. You're better off just reskinning a prexisting sky...try copying your texture over one and working with that.

Wait, req? I wasn't aware that sky textures needed reqs. Maybe this is the problem. I can't seem to find one for the Kamino sky.
PvtParts, at the risk of sounding stupid, what's an Alpha layer? I know I'm coming from ignorance, but why should the picture itself be the problem if it's the same exact size and filetype?
Thanks everyone.

In photoshop, if you go over to the layer selection, and click channels, you have RGB, Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha. Alpha doesn't have a lot of noticeable effect on the texture outside of game, but having a messed up one can have mess it up ingame (ever seen those unnaturally shiney units, with default skins (meaning they shouldn't be shiney)? Its because the person messed up the tga and it is missing the alpha).
I can't guarantee it'll work, and I have the feeling your missing something more than just an alpha layer. Make sure you copy all the needed files from the worlds folder you using (the sky tga wont work alone, you need the sky mshs and such - best way to know for sure is open up the worlds sky file and scroll down to the part with sky info, and see what mshs and tgas you need)

Sorry to hi-jack this topic but....
I have the same problem. Could you hlep me fix it?
1. I renamed a custom sky tga to sky_yav2 and replaced it with the sky tga file in my world 1 folder.
2. Cleaned and Munged.
3. AHH white sky.
4. So then i resized the image to 512 x 512
5. Clean and munged.
6. Still white sky.
Would appreciate any help...
