Jaal-Kan: River Conflict v1.0 RELEASED

Post by Xavious »

I've put the release of this map off way too long. It had been sitting on my computer for a month or so taking up space and I finally decided to finish it up a couple days ago.

There's so many changes from the beta (which I'm not sure the testers would remember... lol) that I won't bother mentioning them here.

Anyways, straight from the readme:
Description:

The map itself is based around a river, with two bridges connecting the two sides. At
the beginning of the battle, the bridges are blocked by destroyable barriers. The
Republic starts on one side of the river, with the CIS on the other. The CIS command posts
are shielded from enemy fire by several buildings. The Republic area includes a forest,
and a small group of bulidings. Several low barriers scattered around the map provide
cover for snipers. Both sides have turrets, but the Republic has mortar turrets to help
them take down the barrier at the beginning of the battle.

Playable in Clone Wars only.

Sides:

Republic: (All Clones have new skin)

Clone Trooper
Heavy Trooper
Clone Sharpshooter
Clone Engineer
Stealth Trooper
Clone Commander
Hero: Xavious

CIS:

Battle Droid
Assault Droid
Assassin Droid
Engineer Droid
Super Battle Droid (Enhanced Wrist Blaster)
MagnaGuard (MagnaStaff)
Hero: Asajj Ventress

Installation
Unzip the Jaal-Kan folder to your addon folder in the Star Wars Battlefront II
directory. (...Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon)
If you do not have an addon folder, create one there.

Now, take the JAL folder inside the Jaal-Kan folder and move it out
of the Jaal-Kan folder and into the addon folder.

Start up Battlefront II, and Jaal-Kan should be on your map select screen.

Unistallation
To uninstall, remove JAL from your addon folder.

I don't like it that much because it doesn't really feel like a battle.

I really had fun with this one. Pwning the clones was so enjoyable, their screams of terror filled me with joy. I like how the Reps have to destroy barricades to get to the fight nice concept.

ooohhh, another map by Darth_Maul. I've got to give this one a try

[edit]
I just played it. As always I like your skins, especially how they mirror the say. The game play was especially fun as I was trying to cross the bridges. the command post in the pyramid was well done the way you mounted it on the table. The only thing I did not like so much was the shade of green on the bouildings on the CIS side. its just an ugly color, sorry. maybe some experiementation with different hues might help. um, the only bug I have found is in the tunnel underneath the pyramid. on the right side as seen by the approaching clones there is a hole between the tunnel and the terrain. I'm sorry I cannot provide a screen shot because I don't know how to.

Perhaps you could elaborate? Opposing sides shooting at each other and capturing positions doesn't seem like a battle to you?

Well it just seems to be too focused on one bridge. If both bridges were used, it would've been more strategic. It was mostly just keeping the droids from coming through until they were practically finished.

Great map, its a lot better than the beta. As for the one guy who says its not a battle, what are you talking about, the ai always use both bridges.

Well, 90% of the droids are on one of the bridges, but I can't take the easy path without risking the Clone's main base to the droids. Basically all I do is hold the droids back on that one bridge. Once you lose the main base, you're either surrounded or held back.

I played the map. Wowza! It's fun! And (for me) its actually the most fun I had using the CIS! I can sneak up on the rep's with the Magna Guard by diving and turn up in front of a few campers and pOon them :D. I like the aura of the map alot. That thunder sound from the sky, that flashing from the clouds and the green moon. Feels like chaos  and the little bit of the forest from the republic side and was....WOW really nice mix of Yavin and Kasshyyyk!

Well, what CammandoMichael said has a point, the center of the rep base was nearly overwhelm when the 2 barracades were destroyed. But the republic does held his own when I'm in the CIS, they put up a good fight to take back the center CP but the reinforcement count was 134 to 73 till then.

You fixed the Lightning issue from the beta.Thats great.
I like this Map. The Blizzards and this mystical green Sky looks awesome. For me One of the best Sky`s i have seen in a Map.

But like i said in the Beta the Sailbarke and the Kashyyyk-Asseets still doesnt fit.
Image
and if you play the Clones and fight your Way beginning from the left Bridge, so you will win the Battle very fast..
You placed the Barricade and Turetts at the Clones Side very good.
It would be cool to see one or two wrecked LAAT`s in the River like the placed parts from Mos Eisley.

A Ammo-Droid stucks at CP3 in the Ground :P
Assaji has no Weaopn Locals.
The Magnaguard is without all Locals (Weapon and Name)
Is it possible to give Assaji the Combo from Mace Windu or Anakin ?
You should rename the -) Blasterpistol to DC-15`s.I think it is a DC-15`s because the Firerate is much more than a -normal-Pistol.
Xavious Weapon sounds like a Rocketlauncher.

All in all absolute nice Battle Map.Good done.

Heh, the sky is perfect. The green moon rocks! The Sail-Barge was useless....an addition to the file size, and why is the Republic using a 200 ammo'ed pistol? It looks.....strange and the Rail-gun should have a much different or turned down sound because when I used it, the sound just boomed my stereo system.

This map looks really good. I'm going to have to go to my computer and download this! :P (I'm typing this on my Wii!)

Edit: Yikes! that file size is huge! Thank God the download speed is good.

I suggest WinRAR for compression. It is much better than zip.
