Single Player keeps telling me there was an internal drive error. its blaming directx every time i minimize the game, and sometimes even randomly. Whats goin on?

What's your system info? (CPU, RAM, graphics card, and OS at minimum)

What's exactly is the error saying?

system info is... Hmm. Heres what I can see:
AMD Athlon XP 2000+ 1.66 GHz, 1.00 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT
Windows XP`
The error message says there was an internal driver error in Direct X
It either CTDs, or it just goes black, and the screen says no signal, like when I turn it off. The computer is still on, though.

What version of DirectX do you have?

Sounds like the error you get when you change the settings while Xfire is on....

I dont have xfire.
I have the directx from the game dvd. 9.0c

Maybe there's something wrong with your driver. Is it the only game were this happens or are there also others?

just this game. Also, sometimes it crashes and the monitor turns off. The game goes to a black screen and the computer doesnt restart, but the screen says no signal and then goes black, like if it were off.

Well, you can always try to set your gamesettings to default.
Don't install driver's though, that's one of the worst things you can do. (Personal experience) .

Edit: Important question: Happened this also when you played the demo?

Never had problems before with the trainer.

My conclusion then is that the problem is in the game and not something else. I read it happened in single-player, what about multiplayer?

Oh, what about not minimize the game?

Multiplayer crashes too. The game seems to minimize all on its own.

Then I can think of these two things:

1. Total removal of CoD4 and then install it again.
2. You might have to little space left on your hard-drive, check for that.

OK new problem. I bought a new computer and the game doesnt crash, and neither do any of my other games. YEHAW!

BUT! But, when I try to load multiplayer, IT crashes, and it says it'll try to find a solution, but it never does.

hmmmm.... Is there any patches on the official site?

Multi crashes WITH the patch. Ugh this is SO frustrating.

Is this the same error or a new one? If it's a new error, what does it says this time then?

AND IT HASNT given me a solution.
