Anything for the engineer but yellow or green or some other gay bright color

purple..... or red.

Purple? I dunno...
I think I'll try the white (a.k.a. no markings). My only fear is that my units (medic excepted) will all be white, not as colorful a menagerie as the typical SWBF 1 Republic classes.
Next screens will hopefully have the sky image of the RAS, shown on the last page.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this time it is the real
100th post!
A couple of tries, and I was able to get my sky image to work.
Just a quicky test, but this opens lots of doors... such as planets and other sky images... but HYPORI will have more of these than one... at different angles (see the cartoon pic on the first post for an idea of it). Lighting, resizing will be dealt with, and I have a better texture for the RAS as well.
Thoughts?
my new avatar r0x0rz, btw

They are called
Proximities... and I did make that (and them) up... but that is a topic for a whole other forum!
Little more work... to give Hypori an unique, memorable atmosphere.
"Dark times ahead, Delta 437"
I might retexture a sandcrawler to look like one of those Republic carriers from the Clone Wars cartoon. If it looks good enough, I may have it as the destructible Republic CP.

Thanks!
I am going for a unique feel for this map, so it won't feel like any other planet map yet... or so I hope.
Having seen fires and the way smoke effects sunlight, I am trying to get that appearance for this crash-littered terrain. (Southern CA is no stranger to wildfires

... I have considered doing a map of the hills by my house, but in order to be accurate, a misplaced lazer would set the whole place ablaze!

). Lighting, fires, smoke need tweaking still. I plan on using more Geonosis textures, along with the Tatooine ones.
The Republic Carrier is now a working, destructible CP... but it will need a major reskin in order to not look like a grey sandcrawler.

It is too yellow right now... I still have to "orange" it. And it is missing a sun.

It is from the fabulous Sky Pack hosted on this very site, created by
CGartist.
Overall, the visual aspect of Hypori is difficult, since the only reference is a cartoon, and SWBF is more realistic, so I am trying to get a balance -
recognizable, yet believable.
I have been toying with the idea of giving the Republic some vehicles, since (according to my story) this specific band of clones is supposed to be able to hold out. I was thinking of a Gunship (starting off a little damaged)... but that might give too much of an edge. The
V-19 Torrent, if it is successfully imported into SWBF (and I get permission from
L-5-R) would be good in this map, as an escort fighter would have been able to dodge the orbital mines that doomed the Republic fleet, but wouldn't have been able to just leave. Depending on how the
AT-XT turns out in Teancum's upcoming test map, I may use that as well. It looks awesome, and to have it blasting away at swarms of SBDs would be fun.

I have been contemplating shifting many things around in order to balance this map. According to
this site, the CIS had quite a diverse force of vehicles and units, while in the Clone Wars cartoon we only see Grevious' SBDs and Spider Walkers. OOM-9 is the CIS hero in this battle (as I have stated previously), so he should have some of his beloved AATs.

I at least plan on giving the SBDs rockets like they have in SWBF II (with splash damage, so they are like regular rockets).
Also, the central, crashed Republic Carrier will not be destructible. I got it working, but it would be better as a permanent prop, with a CP next to it. The Carrier is going to be a combination of different props, so if it was destroyed, you'd have "floating" engines and antenna.
This map is totally going to have an AT-XT for the Republic (excited,
EraOfDesann?

). Since a Republic Carrier usually carries many speederbikes (which won't be included, as the bikes aren't much of a defensive weapon), something had to be carried in that cargo hold. However, with the introduction of vehicles... the Republic may loose the Engineer for the Pilot. I'd still keep the Medic around, unless everyone wants a Jet Trooper.

Alright... changes once again. I have replaced the thermal detonators and crack grenades with a dual purpose grenade (mimicking those in SWBF 2).
Also, the CIS will still be solely SBDs, but I am working on giving them wrist rockets like SWBF 2 (explosive radius). This should help balance them against the more diversified Republic.
The current lighting/sky situation is an eyesore (
orange orange
), so I think I have a way to fix the problem, and make my map look better at the same time: night time.

Probably more like dusk, such as Kashyyyk: Islands, since nighttime in Hypori would be pitch black, unless it has some moon(s)?
I am also trying to figure out how to add new music (like
Psych0fred's
ChainIsle). Think lotsa Greivous music for the CIS.

Bad News first: My computer has regained it's overheating/sudden shutdown thing. That just compounds my frustration, and slows things down.
Mega Good News: Started on "final" map version. All that you have seen so far is just test maps... and those maps' last munge corrupted them (sorta bad, but not quite

), but I still have the source files, and that pushes me to start work on the final layout. I also found that I can get almost full graphics (on simpler maps), so here is a high quality screen!
Go ahead, click! It is cool!
Another
CGArtist sky... but this is most like the Clone Wars cartoon (at most I may tint the sky a little yellowish). You can't see the ground, but it will be Geonosian, mostly.

Not bad at all,

By the way, have you succeeded in adding your own sound-tracks in this level ?

Leviathan wrote:By the way, have you succeeded in adding your own sound-tracks in this level ?

Nope.
...but only because I haven't really tried yet. I have been reading up on it, and I have
Psych0fred's
ChainIsle Data folder, so it'll just take some trial and error. I'll definitely post something if I get success or not, maybe a little tutorial...
Speaking of Psych0fred, I was slinking around his site's
download section, and I came across
some goodies! After looking at the Jedi Interceptor skins

, and playing with the AT-RT in my test map

, I added something to Hypori-
AT-XT! Just a beta... but enough for me to play around with.
