The entire screen? I'm going for a foggy night looking effect, in a hilly, semi forest snowy area.
Man, I'm asking tons of questions today
Oh, and I want to change that non-LOD terrain to black.

Copy over the fog settings from Felucia and change the coloration as needed. Another way to do it is using fog effects that go in your FX file, but that uses up a substantial amount of resources.

Thanks again! :D I'm trying that right now (Munging, please wait....)
Oh, here's a little teaser of my next mod map.
Not close to completion, but this pic is to give people an idea off what it will/should be like when finished.

It's going to be called Blind Hill.

EDIT: I get these weird transparent square things that float through the level, disappearing and appearing.

I copied Fel's fogcloud in its fel.fx file to BLH.fx

thats the fogeffect missing the texture.
like marth said you should use the fogsetting from the skyfile rather than fogeffects if you wantthe whole map to be foggy.

And if you want to use the .fx file's fog, copy the fx_fluffy files from the Felucia assets to your common effects folder.

Another thing (I don't want to make a billion threads) I made the ambient light In ZE 0,0,0 for top and 100,100,100 for bottom, and the models show up black, but the ground is really light, even with the color black on the ground. Workarounds?

i think burning the terrain can resolve issues with the terrain being too bright.

I know they at least affect units and objects; I am using them in Luna's tunnel system.

Shadow regions only affect units. Rainshadow regions affect snow, rain, and similar environment effects.

i found a trick that might work since i found out 0, 0, 0 and 255, 255, 255 seems to be white you can type this is 0, 0, 1 it adds the tinniest amount of blue that its barely noticable (check it out in paint)

One way to edit the brightness of the terrain is to adjust the top and bottom ambient environment light settings, found in the toolbar located in the right in the Light tab. Another way to do it is to simply edit the texture's TGA itself, but I find it much more convenient to do it the first way.

Don't forget that running the map in High lighting settings will change the way the terrain is seen from Medium and Low.
