I'm alright with this. Enjoyed Star Trek. I know someone who used to roam these parts wouldn't be happy about it though. "BLARGH Star Trek SUX and Star Wars is superior in every way!"

Since J.J. Abrams went into Star Trek trying to make it closer to Star Wars, and it came out the way it did, I'm excited with what he might do with actual Star Wars (as long as there aren't nearly as many lense flares).

Aha. Lens flare jokes. Because I didn't already see 60 of those in the comments all over the internet (mainly reddit).
He also did Lost and that new show, Revolution. I really like Revolution (it happens to draw a lot of parallels to Star Wars), and I enjoyed his Star Trek, too. I see good things coming out of this.

I realise this is bumping but it seems the flow of news hasn't been followed on here, so here's something you guys should find interesting:
Episode VII will take place 30 years (approx.) after Episode VI, and will feature three new lead characters as well as old ones. It's being filmed in Pinewood Studios in May. Carrie Fisher has said that she is reprising the role of Princess Leia and has been getting in shape for the role (though I think we all knew that). The villain will also be in a similar vein as Darth Vader and Adam Driver is in final negotiations to play the role. So a concrete cast list confirming who will be playing what is likely to be not far off now.
