I guess this forum has turnedi nto a wip forum so I might aswell post this here.

Its still WIP but the modeling side of things is nearly done. The textures are placeholders for when I can sit down proper and make some good ones.

I have made some animations for it but there gonna have to wait till I read Minilogo's animation compiling tutorial.

You'd probably say the same about Grievous' ship, right?

I doubt only 1 ship was made so i dont see why it cant go in any map.

Maybe Vyse can enlighten us .

1st off , whats its proper name? :)

As for your cough ,Vyse, I'l sort that out very soon :D

Ok info on the ship, if you havn't read it already! The short of it is Dooku commissioned six ships of this type to be built from the Geonosis manufacturer Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights Collevtive. Although I don't believe it states anywhere that these starfighers would not or could not be made for other customers, so I WOULD say that other people could have these ships!

The Cool things is that they were stationed at, you guessed it, at Rattatak!

And Bandu thanks for helping with that cough lol

HERE IS THE INFO STRAIGHT FROM STARWARS.COM

Quote "Count Dooku was a known connoisseur of abstract and exotic alien designs, in both art and technology. His preferred vessel, the Punworcca 116-class solar sailer, is a striking example of this appreciation. Impressed by its performance, Dooku commissioned the Huppla Pasa Tisc Shipwrights Collective on Geonosis to craft a sextet of starfighters for his exclusive use. Since Dooku preferred to leave the flying to pilot droids, it is uncertain what he had in mind at the time he placed the order.
Based loosely on aggressive Geonosian air patrol skimmers, the resulting Ginivex-class starfighters were informally dubbed "fanblades" for their most distinctive feature. The slim, elegant vessel had an iridescent fan-like wing extending from its dorsal and ventral surface. The wing can accordion inward to hide flush with the ship's body.

The fan deploys for combat mode, stretched to its half-circle extent along a pair of articulated boom arms. Atop each arm is a double laser cannon that swings and locks into forward-firing position. In combat mode, these laser cannons have an enlarged firing arc. When the boom arms are shut, these cannons still point forward due to a limited hinge joint that locks them into place.

Though the combat mode greatly increases the fighter's target silhouette, the exotic material of the fan serves as a transmission plane for deflector shield energy. With shields fully energized, the fanblade is a tough target to damage. However, the energy output makes the fighter stand out like a beacon on sensors.

In a manner similar to the sail found on Dooku's solar sailer, the fan also serves as an alternate form of propulsion, though the ship is fitted with standard sublight and hyperspace drives.

When not in combat mode, the starfighter loses the benefit of enhanced shields, but is difficult to target due to its tiny silhouette. Also, ion bafflers incorporated into its sublight engines make it very stealthy.

At the head of the ship is the bulbous cockpit, designed specifically for humanoid occupants. When Asajj Ventress became a disciple of Count Dooku, he had the small group of fighters moved to her headquarters on Rattatak.

Through the course of the Clone Wars, Asajj would have two fighters stolen from her, one by Anakin Skywalker and the other by Obi-Wan Kenobi. The status of the remaining four is currently unknown."

Vyse! Your full of it today ! ... info that is ;)

Thanks.

Iv deleted all the crappy textures and began working on the proper ones. I have the base of the body texture done. I will leave adding little details once Iv got the whole of the ships base texture in place.

Im about to model the landing gear properly. Also I need to tweak the scaling of certain parts (guns are bit too big)

This pic shows the landed position

1 question about Exhausts - how do I go about making my own (obviously I edit an existing 1 but where do I put in once its edited etc ) . Iv tried but in game no exhaust showed up.

I basically want a yellow exhaust that doesnt have a 'rocket trail' effect. Just a glow. I used the jedi fighters exhaust but it has this 'rocket trail' that I dont want.

That looks awesome!!! :D A lot better all together!

For the effects you have to use the particle editor, but I have never gotten it working! This thread might help ya, don't know for sure though...

What mode you in XSI to reflect that way in the screenshot. (or did you mirror it across the Y axis in game with a clear floor?)

Looking good Bandu! :D

by Lord-Bandu
Thanks.

To get the reflection just stick a cube for the floor . Set the material to phong or lambert or whatever and turn the reflection on/up ( the whiter you go the more reflective the surface will be)

The reflection will only showup in render mode ( Q and lassoo your model . Turn the quality up using the bar on the right hand side of the lassooed render (it will be invisible untill you scroll over it).

Off-topic : Bandu', would you mind uploading this "Geonosian Fanblade Fighter" model's "Landing Position" picture on a "hosting-place" different from ImageShack, since I've not succeeded in viewing it so far ?

Thanks in advance !...

leviathan its probably because he used the "link to us" link on imageshack so that whenever someone clicks his image it takes them to imageshack, you should just use the direct links bandu and add image tags.
