Logging

Why is that if you aren't clicking on a link every 10 minutes you get logged out? I was just writing my review of Challenger33's beta; wrote a large pm with all the details that I found, which took me about 15 minutes to get down. I went to send it to him and then lost all of it due to the fact that the site logged me out so I had to log back in. Is there a way that this could be fixed? So that people have something more like a half-hour of inactivity before getting logged?

It has to do with trying to minimize site traffic. Yes, it can be a pain, but you should always go ahead and copy large posts before you send them - whether you might get logged out or your internet might just be fritzy, it's good to copy what you've written.

the site altough dead to some ,is busy and uses lots of bandwidth , also this code in this forum is still beta code, its heavey and kills mysql so i turned alot of things like time limites and auto logins off. It is the only way to keep this up with little to no $upport from users.

Well, how much $ is it gonna take to get rid of time limits and stay logged in forever?

well for instance if the site , everthing else out of mind, had its hosting set it would be nice, say $120 a year. we used to pay that much a month when gt started with dedicated servers :)

Just put $500 in a white envelope and mail it to... wherever Mr. Jawa lives.

Or you could mail it to me.

The problem for the Internet is that donating works mostly only by creditcard and Paypal. Not sure what Paypal is, I never buy stuff through the Net.

I tried. :/ What I had written had vanished with the page change however. Otherwise I wouldn't have made the first post here.

I get it. I've been on several other forums, and found out how the system works. I was under the impression, though, that gametoast received a lot of $upport from its members? All the donation times?

updated gt, the site will now allow logins to last for 3 times the limit , i think its like 1200 seconds of no activity before it tosses you to relogin, also loads on the site can now be 3 times higher before you see a "disabled spam" msg. For those who asks, we got 2 donations in the past year. Which doesnt scratch the surface of this sites costs for 3+ years. If you can donate and not miss out on a good lunch please do so at paypal.com and send to [email protected] username. All donators get cool titles/ranks and me being super thankful that cool people really do support this goofy place called gt.
