after mass effect im looking out for other good story focused shooters, ive looked through a few top-lists but didnt see any other ones beside the usual suspects and those ive played already.

these are the games ive played and enjoyed:
-half-life series
-no one lives forever series
-XIII
-mass effect series
-deus ex 1+3
-the darkness 2
-jedi knight series
-mirrors edge
-crysis
-dark messiah of might and magic
i also liked bionic commando and prototype but i wouldnt call them shooters
i didnt like fear and stalker isnt really my thing either.

can you recommend any good storyfocused/based shooters for the pc?

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but, this is a game I started playing a few days ago for a few bucks. The game is Outcast a sci fi action adventure game about a man sent into an alternate universe. It is an old game so the graphics are not very high fidelity and the controls are rather unusaul, but the game has an imaginative setting with good voice acting and a great soundtrack.

It is not a trailer but is the best I could find. It is not a well known game, because when it was released it was critically acclaimed but a financial failure.

The version on this site is optimized to run on modern computers so it is easy to install, but the resolution is not the best there is.

If the age of the shooter doesn't matter I'd suggest a few:

I'll admit, it's not ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
But it's still good, and they're making a sequel that looks like a big improvement on an already good game.

However, getting it to work requires a lot of work and/or dark magic.

Republic Commando is pretty fun. It has great characters and a story that takes place during the Clone Wars from the perspective of a group of special operations clones instead of the Jedi.

Only getting the first two games in a 5-game franchise (we don't count Halo Wars. It never happened) doesn't sound like much fun.

I've only played the first one, but it seemed pretty fun to me. I knew the latest one wasn't for pc, but I didn't realise the two before it weren't either...But the first two are still a fun, storyline games for pc. As with most things in this genre though, everyone's opinion will differ. You might not find it that fun, but I know that I liked it.

Also, perhaps Borderlands? The story is...a little lacking but makes up for it in other areas.

I'd suggest Call of Duty or Battlefield as well but the story really isn't the focus in those.

What a fantastic game. If you like transformers, you'll have fun simply because of the games handling, but it's also a pretty good shooter.

the age doesnt matter, i really like older games because they arent as "streamlined" as new ones

Halo Custom Edition is actually a LOT of fun, and it's super cheap!

If you liked Mass Effect, you'll like this. Neat dialogue system, fun weapons unlocks (the pistol tree was a lot of fun with its "bullet time" - type abilities).
