Effects are blocks, help! *Solved!*

Post by Rekubot »

Basically I'm trying to edit laser effects. I'm not bothered what colour they are or anything, I just want them to work. If I edit the .TGA file for com_sfx_laser_blue nothing changes. Then I renamed the .TGA file and changed what it asks for in the ordnance ODF and now all the effects are blocks! Does anybody know how to fix this? I'd really appreciate the help.

Change back everything you did to the way it was before. if you forget, just copy it back from the assets.

You have to save the alpha channel in the texture. What program are you using. Also, what folder did you put your texture in?

I use Adobe Photoshop and just save the file over a different one. I'm not sure whether I change the alpha channel though. The texture goes into Data_***\Common\Effects.

Edit: I do save the alpha channels. The alpha channel box is ticked at the bottom of the save window.

You cant really override the shipped effects. You'd have to name them something completely different and load that.

That's what I've done. I made a copy of com_sfx_laser_blue, edited it and renamed it to com_sfx_laser_blue_2, and then told the rifle's ordnance ODF file to use that texture. The copy is in the folder Data_***\Common\Effects. Do I need to put it in my world folder or something?

Ah that's your problem. If you doing a new side, you need to make an effects folder under it.
