This is my error with the exporting:
It says:
ActiveX part can't make object : (and then you can read

)
Help?

This may sound stupid but, did you make a dummyroot and branch select and all that stuff. If you did then maybe you should ask someone else for their addon? Anyways, congratulations on purchasing XSI.

Congratulations on your purchase, i'm not sure why you get that error, i've never experienced it, but this is line 81 in the script:
Code: Select all
Set Obj=CreateObject("XSI2MSHExporter3.XSISceneExporter3")
Let's see your hierarchy and how you exported the object.

I do know how to export.. I've been moddeling for a while now! The line is the same. The problem MIGHT be (that's what Frag and i think) that i can't run RunMeOnce.bat from the addon directory. We think it's necessary, but windows shuts it down. This bat adds PandemicBF2Exporter.dll to the register.. Anyone know how to fix this bat problem, or do it manually?
I've got Vista Basic btw; never had any ActiveX problems though (please don't reply with windows vista sucks or something like that)

That might be where the problem is, Vista is known to have quite a few issues at this stage, XSI 5.11 is an older version and you have it installed on the newest OS with an xsiaddon designed around the XP era.
I'm using XP, can anyone here confirm that the msh exporter works on Vista?

It may or may not be that Ace'...
I once did have vista installed and it worked fine, so that problem wasn't there for me...
Could be something else however...

Yeah, I was just taking a stab in the dark there, but some people are also able to run ZE on Vista and some are not.....but based on what you said, I guess that confirms Pandemic's xsiaddon installed in XSI 5.11 on Vista works, so that might not be his problem.

I'll just download the full 5.11, if possible with my key, and then i install that on my c drive..
Please don't lock this; I'll say so if it works

Well, i deinstalled XSI, downloaded the full version, inserted my key, and installed it on my C:/ drive but still EXACTLY the same error.. Does someone know maybe about ActiveX? It's getting frustrating..
FragMe noticed something about DirectX as well, someone? Please help!

I don't know what to tell you, check your event log in the
Event Viewer for warnings or anything out of the ordinary.

Yeah I'm sorry.. This event viewer doesn't really help.. I might check if it works on another pc, and I'll try to deinstall direct X 10, that was Frag's suggestion.. I might find a ActiveX update somewhere as well.. Strange no one had this error before.. Are there other XSI programs which can export with the XSIADDON? Maybe they work, and I've got a key anyway!

Go to the link you sent the other day, but in there it links to another site which lets you know which thing to change.
I wouldn't uninstall directx10 just yet.
I may be on Xfire for a short time tonight I will talk to you if I am.

Ok Frag, I'll check, though i did not understand anything! Might see you this eve then!
Here is an interesting thing:
http://www.kxcad.net/Softimage_XSI/Soft ... #Rabo14598
As far as i see, it's about jscript and ActiveX, both things named in my error.. It only doesnt make sense to me, so i hoped someone could help me?
EDIT
Well, the Softimage help desk (Steve) helped me out, so I'm very happy!
One problem though; i can't seem to import obj, or .xsi (exported with XSI 6 crosswalk).. No error, but when i press it in file>import, nothing happens
Thanks for all help btw; I'm happy to export now!
Edit: I also can't find this obj addon.. Can someone post a direct link?

So what was it, share with the rest of us so if someone has a similar problem they can fix it.

Glad to see you got it going.
For XSI export from Modtools 6 you need to use Crosswalk to export.

use these settings on the export.
With OBJ import the stock obj importer doesn't work so well if at all, if you go to the XSI site there should be an updated obj addon.

How to solve this problem: (a Vista and Windows 7 problem)
Run
RunMeOnce.bat from:
- c:\users\%your_user_name%\Softimage\%XSI_Version%\Addons\PandemicBF2
If windows shuts it down, press
Start and type
cmd.
Now in the search results it shows
cmd.exe
RIGHT click on it and from the context menu select 'run as administrator'.
It'll open the command prompt, type this:
Code: Select all
Regsvr32 c:\users\%your_user_name%\Softimage\%XSI_Version%\Addons\PandemicBF2\Application\bin\nt-x86\PandemicExporter.dll
Then, it will say it is succesfully loaded. If not, post error here or pm me.
@FragMe!: Thanks about the obj thing. I did now about crosswalk; someone has been exporting my models for a year

How can i import into 5.11 a crosswalked file? When i press import>dotXSI or import>dotXSI5 nothing happens
Edit: Can someone post a direct link to this obj addon download? Or upload the file? I can't find it

Glad to see you got it fixed, Stephen tends to get things sorted out quickly.
You can find the obj xsiaddon in Netview, but if you have the Roadkill plugin installed there may be conflicts when trying to run Roadkill interactively.

Nope, no roadkill installed.. shall i reinstall this addon? I cant find i though
Also, suddenly, XSI is not starting correct. I can see the upper bar, with File, Edit etc, but the rest, where the viewports should be, is gray.. Maybe i need to restart my pc; havent done that in a month

The thing with the XSI import is you don't use cakewalk to do it just do a normal XSI import.

Ok people, when I fixed the exporter, and shut down XSI, the next time i opened it, i got this:
Anyone got this before? I do not mean the red line, i mean the gray screen.. Are there btw other XSI version who support the addon? Thanks in advance!
