Beach Troopers

Post by Maveritchell »

Statesiders, it's Memorial Day weekend! Summer's beginning!*

That means it's time to get outside and have some fun in the sun. And why, for all the hard work they do, should the foot soldiers of the Alliance and the Empire get any less of a chance to enjoy themselves? They shouldn't!

In that spirit, Beach Troopers has Rebels and Imperials hang up their blaster rifles for armament of a different sort:

This is a simple, tiny sides mod that equips both sides with all the equipment necessary for a proper water fight. Each side has a rifleman class that carries a water gun rifle and a half-dozen water balloons, a scout class that carries a smaller water gun with a water balloon and a pair of sprinklers, and a heavy class that carries a big 'ol heavy water gun. Each class also has a backup sidearm - you know the one: the tiny, cheap, basically worthless water pistols you can buy five for a dollar.

I honestly haven't decided what I want to do with this (as a mod), but it's going to remain pretty small in scope. There are some tiny flourishes right now (the obligatory sounds, a spigot to replace the ammo droid and a towel rack to replace the health droid, and a new reload animation), but for the most part it is a pretty straightforward sides mod. I'm just going to play with it a bit and see where it leads me. Your ideas are welcome, but will of course not necessarily be used.

Video!

Thank you for not choosing LEGO's version of a Beach Trooper from LEGO Star Wars II.

The one idea/request I have is to include THIS on a special unit or something, it was my favorite, until the quick-filler broke...

65oz tank, could only refill from a special hose attachment, but required no pumping once filled.

BF2 idea for design, clips of (for example, idk what kind of ammo rates you have) 10 shots, no reload time, 60 clips total

This, is, awesome. I love this idea (wish I had thought of it :P ).

Ideas eh? I will see what I can think of and post them later.

I look forward to playing this mod. I watched the video, the music reminded me of Spongebob Beach Music :o

Kinetos has a good idea, :)

Oh, and Happy Memorial Day everyone

Looks supremely epic Mav, just like all the other mods you've made...

I concur :plokoon: , I had noticed it was a bit weird to hear them cry in pain, laughter would be better :funny2: it wouldn't be that hard either. Maybe just water splash sounds.

Haha, this is great. For how simple the sides are, it's apparent that you've put plenty of hard work into getting them ready.

No you missed the point, it's the rebels and imperials putting down their weapons and having some fun! Not just a random water fight! The only girl could be the rebel marksmen I guess, but oh well, never liked her anyways...

I didnt miss the point at all, I know its not a random water fight. And I reiterate, the markswoman doesn't count?

And what, your sexist? Whats the issue, The rebel markswomen always reminded me of Russian snipers during WWII, which 50% of Russian snipers are women. I know the reasons why, I dont need a history lesson. My point is, why do you have an issue with her? The only reason I can see is your are discriminative against women in the military or women in general. I am extremely aggravated by prejudice of Race, sex, or religion. I will probably get in trouble from the staff saying from this *sigh*

While there's always a chance that I'm sexist, Occam's Razor says that it's most likely I just did what took the least amount of work. Move on please.

I am not calling you sexist Mav
Maybe Water Balloon Mines, they just sit there with a tiny trigger radius, but you get a bunch to use to make choke points. They explode into giant water balls. Ok, I thought it would be a bit more cool sounding than how I worded it... so I shut up now...

I have always thought that the irony of the only female (non-hero) character being named marksMAN is hysterical, just saying.

Oh wow, that looks like a riot.

I think one simple map would complement this mod well. Something along the lines of a beach littered with towels and umbrellas, as well as a barbecue grill and a couple picnic tables. That shouldn't require more than a handful of new models.
