Suggestions on a new laptop?

My current laptop, an HP G60-445DX(for those of you who care.

) has gone through so much punishment that it's not even funny anymore. From very large neodymium magnets to accidents with Arizona, it's survived it all. However, a relic from the Vista Age, it is sadly out of date, and its casing is in disrepair. On top of that, its screen is on its last legs. So, having taken all this in, I have decided it is a good time to upgrade. At the absolute most, I can spend 700 dollars. I'd love to have an i5, and discrete graphics are always a plus. I've found a couple, but i'd like some other input.
Suggestions/Opinions(on anything: brands, parts, laptops) would be wonderful, and will be rewarded with cake.

Acer is pretty good, laptop is DX11 capable and has a good i5 in it.
If you can scrape up another 300$ though look at the ASUS Republic of Gamers lineup. Some of the best build quality and Price:Performance in the market right now.
Recertified (used) but nice at 750$ ASUS G60-JX

I like the graphics cards, much better than what i've seen. However, I'm pretty rough on my laptops, and I prefer a metal case.
Waddya think of these:

I'll check out that RoG lineup, too. I know the motherboards are good, but I didn't know they sold laptops, too.

Heed my warning: do not invest in HP if you wish to have a durable laptop to last you for a long time. They just ain't what they used to be.
ASUS K52 Series K52JE-XN1 Notebook
It's equipped with 4.0GB DDR3 RAM, an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 GPU and a 320GB hard drive, but only a 2.0 GHz P6100 Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor. No need to fret about your CPU's clock; the P6K series is great.
Also: THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!!!

Diet Dr. Pepper! My ploy is blown!
Is HP really all that bad? I know their batteries suck, but are their computers that terrible?
My computer's been through more than I can ask of most of my friends. :]
Anyways, since HP seems to have a bad rep, what companies would you guys recommend?
Also, the lappy looks nice, but i've had bad experiences with the pentium series... How would it hold up with 3D modeling and moderate gaming?
EDIT:
In addition, to prove the cake truly isn't a lie, here you go:

HP laptops (their desktops aren't as bad) are like Chinese electronics (trust me, I've been to China); one lasts until you've just gotten the hang of it and then it stops working.

ASUS and Toshiba are two great brands. Stay away from Dell, HP, Gateway, and of course Apple.

My desktop runs on an Intel Pentium 2.6 GHz and I never have problems. That laptop should do it for you due to its good RAM, graphics card and processor.

There is no picture. Thus, the cake truly is a lie.
