Hello Gametoast! I got my friend involved with Star Wars Battlefront for the PC and modding and together we've been working on this map of and on for a while now, he really likes Real World Weapons and stuff so we decided to do a Modern Map. (Haven't actually gotten to the Modern era yet) Anyway, this is a map based of the stock Mos Eisley and will include vehicles, random skies, three game-modes and three eras.

Overall = 74.06%
Sides = 71.76%
Map = 90%
Scripting = 80%

Mission Count = 9

Vehicles
(NATO) Blackhawk, M1 Abrams vs. (Taliban) T-72 x2, Technical x2
(Republic) ARC-170, AT-AP vs. (CIS) AAT x3
(Empire) TIE Defender, 2M Tank x2 vs. (Rebels) AAC-1 x3

Eras
Clone Wars
Galactic Civil War
War on Terror
(Every era will have all three modes)

Game Modes
Team Deatmatch
2-Flag CTF
Conquest

Three Random Skies
Mos Eisley
Coruscant
Mygeeto

And now for the screenshots

Cool concept. Will Mos be changed in any way other to the sky?

Yes it will, I've already taken out some objects, which will create room for vehicles, I've expanded the maps boundaries as well. I will also add other CPs like the NATO Compound and the Taliban Insurgent Camp.

Cool concept, I even had an idea like this in my head a few days ago. Are any of those screens that of your "War on Terror" era?

No, not yet. I'll be posting my first sides update soon, don't worry. It'll be an update of every sides Basic Infantryman. The units between every side are very similar, but the units of the defending team (Taliban, CIS, Rebels) are a bit better than the units of the attacking team (NATO, Republic, Empire) to neutralize the aerial advantage of the attacking teams. (Ex. A bit more health, or more explosives or something.)

Also, with the F-16 for NATO, if you're using the stock "lifts up, then flies forward" animation, wouldn't it be better if it was replaced by a helicopter, like an Apache or Blackhawk. Also, I don't think the taliban used Abrams tanks. If I was you, I'd replace it with either a Soviet Tank or a Technical with a TOW Launcher or MG.

Maybe a Soviet T-72 for the Taliban? Perhaps the NATO Forces could use a Blackhawk Helicopter.
Make it like a transport gunship. Mobile Command Post, 4 Seats, though I'd give is less weapons and health than a stock gunship. Thanks for the ideas! :thumbs:

Always glad to help. The T-72 would definately work, being as the Soviets probably left a bunch of them when they pulled out of Afghanistan. And the Blackhawk is also a good idea, and if I may add some more input, an M134 Minigun as a side-turret would be especially fun to play with :mrgreen:

Neat idea, Nate! Ah, yes, stock Mos Eisley had always reminded me of a location in the Middle East, especially when playing as the Rebels. I suggest replacing those moisture vaporators with some kind of plant, maybe a palm or date tree. Perhaps you can have some desert grass and weed foliage throughout the map so that it doesn't feel too much like Mos Eisley. Also, how about some paved streets using an asphalt texture? One last thing: Are you thinking of doing appropriate random lighting to go with your random skys? Because that dark sky with the bright daytime lighting is really looking out of place. Keep up the good work, though!

Actually, there are real jet aircraft, such as the Harrier, that hover and lift off of the ground vertically and then fly forwards away, usually from aircraft carriers.

Anyway, for sides, I would recommend taking a look at the sides setups in Battlefield 2.

@MawDrallin
Blackhawk Setup
Pilot (No Weapons)
Gunner (M134 Minigun)
Gunner (M134 Minigun)
Passenger (No Weapons)
Passenger (No Weapons)
Passenger (No Weapons)

@AQT I will take all those things into consideration, thanks for the suggestions! (I already have a Road Texture ready to go!)

@Marth. Thanks for the suggestion. I did think about a BF2 Sides setup but I like the setup I already have. Like the stock sides sortof-ish. I think I'll stick with the Blackhawk, they're my friend's favorite helicopter.

You got me there. I forgot about the F-35.

I have not thought about reskinning the buildings yet, but I may do so in the future. I have thought about making most of the buildings destructible just like in a Battlefield 3 Trailer I saw.

Nice update, can't wait to hear on the sides of the War on Terror era. Also, the paved road seems bigger than neccassary, as in my opinion, it should be more like a pathway than the entire ground.

Yeah. I have a noob question. How do you change what areas of the map use a certain texture? it's always bugged me how I could never get a certain area to use a ground texture.

EDIT: I'm thinking of adding 2 Technicals to fight the Blackhawk and taking away a T-72 for the Taliban. What do you guys think?

What do you mean by "how do you change what areas of the map use a certain texture?" I don't play around much with ZE, but if you mean how do you use the texture without it covering almost all the map, in the little section on the right, select your texture through your computer files and add it to one of the empty boxes, that way you can just paint the texture where you want it. Is that what you mean?

Also, the Technicals I think would work well, as long as you have at least one with an MG that way the defenders will have anti-infantry capabilities with a vehicle.

Thanks, got it working. Now there are less roads and there is a lot more dirt! :lol: Yes, the technicals will have an MG as their only weapon. It will be good against Air and Light Ground Targets.
