Some games I've missed out on

So I've been playing a lot of PC games as of late. I trade all my old school discs with friends for their new-ish games to be able to play through the SP story modes of these new ones.

Bioshock -- A great game, but I thought it was a little overrated. It sure was purdy though. I loved playing through it, but everyone talked it up like it was the game to beat all games. It wasn't. It was really great, but it wasn't that great.

Quake IV -- Now this game I Loooooooooooved. Yeah, it's gory in places, and normally I don't like that, but I just loved Quake 2 to death back in the day. This carries on that awesome tradition.

Deus Ex: Invisible War -- It was fairly good, but I won't miss having it installed. I love the Action-RPGness of it, I just hated how you were always left without ammo or health when you actually needed it.

Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith -- An oldie but goodie. I dug this out and played through it before our DSL got hooked up. Great game for its day.

Star Trek: Elite Force II -- Man, how could you NOT have this game installed? It's beyond awesome. The first one rocks too.

Tron 2.0 -- I just have to mention this because I play through it at least once a year. It's awesome.

So now my question is, what of the newer games (PC) are worth trying out? I thought about Blacksite: Area 51 but heard it got bad reviews. I thought Prey might be fun, but don't know if it's harder on a system than Bioshock is (which I can run fine).

Do you have Half Life 2?

If not then... get it, it's really great in about a thousand ways.

Plus then you can get Source mods which are just like getting free games.

Other then that, I haven't bought any "Recent" games.

I played through the first 15 minutes or so of HL2 on the Xbox. I found it frustrating. It seemed like you're out of one peril and immediately in another. There wasn't anything to break it up for me.

I'd definitely recommend Call of Duty 4, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell 3 - Chaos Theory, and if you like strategy games, Company of Heroes
and of course IF your computer can run it, Crysis

I have to agree with Caleb, Half-Life is fun, but if it's too action-packed for you, how about Portal?

Other than that, TrackMania's pretty fun. If you like racing games that is.

I used to play TM Nations back in the day. Maybe I aughta get back into it.

Portal looks like it'd be tons of fun, I played the game that inspired it Narbacular Drop or something to that effect. It was a blast.

I have all four Splinter Cells on the Xbox. I love the series, and the last two have split screen cooperative which rocks.

Keep em' coming, I'd like to see what else I've missed out on.

Finally someone played Bioshock :-) Think your the 2nd here @ Gt how played it.

You should try out Prey ,think it runs fine on your Sytem and get rid of Blacksite. ;-)
but if you decide to play it sometimes, tell me if you liked it.Its really 6 Hours of Timewaste.its very short and boring. Some cool scenes dont bring it up to a good Game.

From the newer games i recommend Assassins Creed, MoH-A,CoD4,Frontlines- Fuel of War and for sure Timeshift its so fun to play around with Time Stop,Time Reverse and Time Forward Movements.

i forgot Lost Planet Extreme Conditions.if you love Walkers and a misty IcePlanet. Then its your Game.

Whats your GFX,Teancum ? If you card is a min. of a GF7600 you shouldnt have any Problems with one of the mentioned Games.

@ Alex --- my specs are:

Pentium 4 3.0ghz
2.6 GB DDR2 Ram
ATI Radeon x1650 512mb Ram

I ran Bioshock with all the options on at 1024x768 with no framerate issues.

Hm. Think your good Processor and the DDR2 RAM helps out to ran Bisoshock with all options.
Minimum Requierment is a GF6600.Your Card is between a GF6600 and GF6800.
If you watch to a GFX Top100 List your Card is Low End and is on Place33.

I played Bioshock first with my old 6600 and it ran the same good but you miss most effects that are only came up with a 7-8 Series Geforce.

Think about to upgrade your GFX to a min of GF7600 (GT),so you can play nearly everything that came out after Bioshock. This Card isnt that much expensive like a GF8800GTS.That Price is more than 150€ but then you also need a new Mainboard with PCI-E. AGP is no longer supported.

Crysis,Assassins Creed,Frontlines and MoH-A won`t run well on your system .These Games want a min. of a 6800,that you dont have.
Timeshift runs on your GFX for sure but before buying a new Game ,you should check out the Minimum that is needed to play it.

Let's see...

Freelancer - Released in 2003, it's one of the simplest space combat sims I've ever played, and probably the best space combat sim out there (except for Earth & Beyond, too bad they took that off the shelves), in my opinion. It's made even better by the fact that it's very easy to mod. One of the only downsides is the cliffhanger ending :runaway:

Battlefield: Vietnam - Released in 2005, Battlefield: Vietnam is a great first-person shooter game, complete with punji sticks, bad mods, and your very own custom music playing on the radio of your vehicle! I rate it as great for people new to first-person shooter games, but it's fun and frustrating for pro's all the same.

Two great games, for cheap prices where I live.
