Sorry to resurrect this topic, but I felt it would be better to add to Darth's topic then make my own. I've only recently actually tried this on my dad's 2011 macbook pro with Intel HD 3000 graphics, dual core i5 and 4gb Ram and I thought I'd let everyone know what it's like. While ingame I could honestly not see the difference between PC and mac. I ran the game using Battlefiler's port (kudos to him!) and the game ran smoothly with everything maxed! All mods/maps are compatible, as it involved copying over the whole SWBF2 folder in your program files directory, taking everything with it. You can even copy your saved profiles over, although I haven't tested mine out. I also haven't tested multiplayer, which I don't often use, so someone else might wanna try that.
It's also worth mentioning the fully working ports for many other games over on
http://portingteam.com/files/. It has fully working ports for stacks of games, including Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, NFS, KotOR, KotOR II, Republic Commando, Jedi Academy and stacks of others. Definitely worth checking out by anyone who has a mac. I can confirm that BF2, Jedi Academy, Skyrim, Age of Mythology and NFS: MW all work fine, but those are the only ones I've tried.
There's only been one problem I've noticed so far, and it's only slight - everything in game has the faintest yellowy tinge - pure white looks slightly browny yellow, however it in no way ruins the graphics of any of the games.
Would it be possible to sticky this thread / make this accessible so that everyone with a mac can find this topic?
EDIT: Also, the one catch to doing this is that it requires the installed version of the game, meaning you'll need to have access to a version installed on windows then copy over the files.
EDIT2: For those who doubt - some pictures (1280x800 is the screen res):
