Alaris Prime - Ambush - update pg 5

ok, some of you may have seen some early screenshots on the glamour skins topic, but I think it's about 50% complete now, so here is the main topic. alaris prime is, a lush, green planet, and it has been very fun to make, I like trees :D. you may notice the republic are not in the map, yes, I have made a start on them, but unfortunately they crash, so they're not in the shots. i will update when they are working. i also used Skyhammer's random sky tutorial to create random skies, so the map comes in:

there are some reskins of the map done by me, but i need to find some nice greenish clone skins for the republic, or new skins for the cis.
vehicles:
rep - AT-TE & AT-RT's
cis - AAT's but they will also have particle cannon turrets to back them up
heroes:
republic will be a custom hero, which i will have an attempt at, any ides for the cis?
i've still got to finish the sides, and add in a bit more scenery (although the map is about 90%). then i can get the proper battle set up.

I'd say to go with the sunset, looks prettier. Nice second map, dude! Liked the first one. :thumbs:

And I think the AT-XT or IF-TX would fit great with this map.

thanks! i am using all of the skies, just loaded randomly, so a random sky comes up each time you play it.
i like the idea of the IF-TX but the AT-XT is a little tall for this map i think. thanks anyway!

Ok, sweet. I'm liking the random skies that everyone is using. But that's ok about the AT-XT, it's just the AT-XT has always been one of my favorite ships.

Oooooooh, nice-looking map you got there!

I remember playing Alaris Prime in Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, by the way, are you going to add Wookies to the map? If you do add Wookies, you could have a Trandoshan as the CIS hero.

i was pondering on wookiees, i think i probably will add them in the end, to add to the atmosphere.

sorry, but i have no idea who they are :lol:!. i will look him up on wookieepedia now!

EDIT: looking at some of those screenshot's I've just realised that some of them are a little out of date. will update in a minute...

The Trandoshans are a lizard-like people, known as enemies of the Wookies.
They are very aggressive and fond of war, most Trandoshans are bounty-hunters, slavers, mercenaries and such.

Do you remember Bossk? That lizard in a yellow jumpsuit in The Empire Strikes Back? He's a Trandoshan. :P

just found it now. thanks for the links, and descriptions. my map was actually based on the second battle of Alaris Prime, if you look that up on wookieepedia, you might find there's a slight resemblance, i got the idea from the picture, actually.

I thought of that. The Trandoshans are always there if there are Wookies to be hurt or killed, they are involved in most battles related to Kashyyyk and Woookie planets.

Still, I won't annoy you with requests to put a Trandoshan in, it's your map, besides, this is starting to stray off topic, so nevermind me.

ok :lol: no worries. i will try adding a trandoshan when i find a good model.
back on topic: i need some stuff to fill up empty spaces. any ideas? (trees can be said!)

Have u ever considered putting in starfighters? Like for the Republic there could be LAAT\i and ARC 170s with the CIS, vulture starfighters and that CIS troop transport (forgot the exact name).

And will there be any waterfalls?

Alaris Prime had some ancient jedi ruins (you could use Rhen-Var ruins). Maybe a Wookie village?

i might go with the rhen var assets, but i don't think i'll use the wookiee village, mainly because this is a forest map, and i don't want it to get too complicated in features and cities. i would say it's one or the other, and my favourite would be the ruins :D thanks for the idea!

This map looks really interesting, I'll be following it.(off topic: lots of "primes" lately) My Diagnosis(Not that there is anything wrong, just what I'd like to see)

Use different vehicles, the ATTE is just to big for this map. IF-TX is perfect, are there any Pod Walker assets out there? Maybe Spider droids too...
Use those ruins, rocks too. In the pics it looked like all you had was bushes and foliage, provide cover.
Use B-1s, add them as their own riflemen unit. I love em'!
Use different trees, in those pics it looked like the same two trees duplicated for the whole map. Maybe it's just me, but use Endor, and Dagobah trees to mix it up.

The map looks great, and it's coming along nicely, can't wait for release.(If you did use a waterfall, might I suggest the yavin[it's the only one]waterfall)

@nova hawk - yes there are waterfalls (just one for now, i'm missing some textures though), and i am going to keep the at-te cos it suits this map
@b-1 burt - thanks for the suggestions. i will try and work on some of these things, although the different tree thing i tested ages ago and it looked dreaful, so that won't change, sorry.
ok, added some ruins and stuff. there's some bigger stuff coming, but these are just small objects for cover and atmostphere.

Add more ruins on the map and make more foliage. :D
