Is there a lot of enpty white space in the custom small weapon icon? What where you changing when it appeared?
You can always claim it as a feature: Friendly ghost following you around. Never shoots, because it never sees any enemy ghosts.

Is it a floating weapon or is the trooper "invisible?"
You're right, both problems are very odd.
All I can think of is that something got screwy with adding the modded characters.
Sorry!!

no... it's like someone got a sticker of the gun and stuck it to my monitor... when you walk around it just sits in the same place on the screen no matter what you do... unless you switch weapons... I haven't the slightest clue what it is...

It's the HUD icon for the weapon. HUD icons are just meshes displayed stuck to the screen. If it's just that weapon, then something got screwed up in the HUDTag for it (there are HUD lines in the ODF, but there are also .hud files in the Common/hud folder - they're normal text files that specify the layout of the hud). My guess is something got screwed up in one of those places...that or you edited the MSH for the weapon and mucked something up with the icon. :^)
I can't get more specific without seeing the side myself.

that must be it, I hex edited the pistol so I could darken the skin and alter it a bit so that it could be the ARC Pistol.... I must have changed the HUD icon's name and it has no icon now to draw from.... maybe I just need to make a new icon for the new .msh *slaps forehead*

I am having this same problem with the binoculars icon for Orbital Barrage and Qdin's DC-17m ICWS.
It's annoying, and I have no idea how to fix it.

This is becoming a major issue my friends...
I now have 3 new weapon models ingame, and they all pull this creepy stunt
I need to either eliminate the icon all together or get it into it's propper place
This is the only foreseeable issue that can push back my beta release

Methinks the answer lies here. Since I'm having the same problem, I'll take a look.

MajinRevan: Are you using the .msh files 'we' used for SWBF1?
maybe try with .msh files which is exported to SWBF2?
what about you two? you're using costum models or...? (well, OOM, since you Hexeditted sometihng it maybe now thinks it's a Costum Model..?

Qdin, yes, I am using those weapons. I'd appreciate if you converted them to SWBF II mode. Also, I need the skins to all be 128x128, 256x256, or 512x512, or else the guns won't have skins!
Teancum, I tried adding the new model names into the .hud files, but nothing happened.

The wonderful folks at pandemic looked into it for me/us yesterday and sent me a extended explaination strait from the HUD designer's mouth.
L-5-R and I are currently running through it and will be releasing a tutorial courtesy of Mike Z aka PAN-Fnord.
Hopefully by tomorrow.
