Some questions (all related)

Salutations, it's me again, with some more inquiries.
Hope you guys can assist me!

1) My map freezes on the loading screen, at about the third to last bar. It also freezes the BF2_Modtools.exe. I assume it's the object limit, as I have over 200 in there, but what is the exact object limit?

2) If it isn't the object limit, what would/could it be?

3) What is the best way of using the foliage to add yav_prop_leaftree? The layer technique or the hellbush technique?

Thanks in advance, and may the force be with you.

1/2) You're nowhere near the object limit, it's like 1053 if I remember right.

So what could it be?

3) Using foliage to add trees doesn't work. The trees won't have collision.

for adding a tree like yav_prop_leaftree just add it like an object.

We need more information, like what were the last changes that you made before it started crashing, retrace your steps and follow the bread crumbs.
Are there any errors in the munge logs or severity 3 errors in the BFront2.log?

The last things that I had changed before the crashing were:
Added some more trees
Added more foliage (nab1_prop_grass_tall was defined in the prp file)
Lowered terrain and added some more water to make a large lake.
Added a little more textures.

Like I said, I tried running my map with the BF2_Modtools.exe, but it also freezes on the loading screen with that too.
So, I have no Bfront2.log
And no mungelog, as the munging had no errors.

But, this morning, after I cleaned and remunged, it got stuck on eddie_prop_grass1 for a while.
However, I don't use eddie_prop_grass1 in my map.

Any help :?:

For the eddie_prop_grass1, you need to delete any files related to it. If you have any other objects that are very high res (like Eddie's grass1), delete them, since they'll take forever to munge.

You might have too many objects in one area. My map used to freeze after looking in a certain area of the map because there were Endor objects abound. If there is a ring of trees that surrounds the map boundaries, decrease the number of them.

Well, my map doesn't freeze after looking at certain area.

It freezes at the loading screen, before I even get a chance to play it.
It freezes the comp too, so I can't press the windows key or ctrl-alt-delete.
I have to totally shut down the computer by pressing the power button and boot it back up.

Yeah, but get rid of whatever you added before the freeze, and see what happens. Start with the trees. If that's not it, then get rid of the foliage. If that's not it, then get rid of the lake. And continue until you find what the problem is.

Also, did you get the odf files the .prp files ask for?

Yeah, small patches of the same foliage worked before (i.e. no freezing), so I applied larger areas of it.
I also had a river in the map too, and that worked before too.
I have all the odf and msh and textures the .prp file asks for.

I guess I'll try getting rid of some trees.

EDIT: Got rid of about 30 trees, still froze.

Hmm, if you're calling for trees to be used as foliage, that's WAY too many trees even for foliage. If you're doing that, get rid of it.

As I said on xfire a few seconds ago:

I'm not using the trees as foliage, as in defined in the prp file.
The foliage I'm using that's defined in the prp file is some grass I added.
