SWBF 1 interface/ingame chat question (please help)

I've heard that it is possible to change battlefront's interface such as the main menu, loading screens, etc...
What tool would let me do this and were can I get it?
Also what file would house this information? (the common file?)
More specifically I would like to edit the ingame chat system.
And any info on doing this would be greatly appreciated!
TY
p.s. please post ideas. It doesn't even have to be the answer just a step toward the answer.

Sorry.
TY
Does anyone know of a script or something that controls the ingame chat?
I could sure use some help as to what files control the chat?
If anyone could give some names of files or something that would be cool.
TY
